Anybody else here like Mike Einziger? Personally I think the guy is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time and doesn't get enough credit and respect for how well he plays the instrument.

This. If you get a wider neck then you will eventually get used to that but then still not be used to a small neck. Just get it over with.

Does anyone else feel wrong about playing a solo that you can tell the guitarist put their soul into? I mainly like to do improv solos because of that, I just want to know if I'm the only one.

Got bored this morning, decided to test something out. An e-cookie to whoever can get it right as to how I accomplished that sound.

Hey guys, does anyone have any tips on learning to better read rhythm in sheet music? I may or may not join a jazz band, and they seemingly have a penchant for latin stuff, with frequent use of poly-rhythms, odd time sigs, poly-meters etc..
Also, how do you guys count 32nd notes?

Counting 32nds is pretty easy. You just kinda count them, though it does help if you group them (1234, 2234, 3234, 4234, etc).
Reading rhythms comes better with practice. It helps if you keep/develop a sort of built in pulse inside your head too. Also, with Latin music, you really want to feel and kind be in a pocket versus being direct.

I got gauged .012-.054 strings and new picks. But that's it for my guitar stuff this year.

So I just got back from a Guitar Center where I got a pair of Seymour Duncan Active blackouts installed. I tried em out at the amp over there, but I couldn't really make out any problems, I didn't bother to actually mess with the amps settings or anything so I thought it sounded fine. So then I get home and plug it into my amp and foot pedal and whatnot and I immediately notice that just about all of the sustain I had was gone, everything just immediately faded. I feel like most of the volume I had is also gone, the volume knob only does anything if it's on the highest setting and even then sometimes my guitar goes completely silent like it's off.
So I tried to mess around with the settings on my foot pedal, to adjust sustain and distortion, things like that. But I noticed that the sound kind of wavered as I moved the pedal around so I thought maybe the cord is just wearing out or something. I never had any problems like that with my old pickups though.
Not really sure what's going on.

I feel kind of retarded, but as you can see in the picture there is a little piece of foam in there. I took it out and apparently it sounds much better. All the volume back and sustain and everything.
Although the knobs are still messed up, I think they just reversed them, what would have been quiet before is now loud and blah blah etc etc.

In comparison I know that a tube amp is WAAAAAAAAAY better than a solid state, but I'm wondering how many watts really is required for a tube amp for it to be used in a stage setting? I have a line 6 spider 3 120 watt right now and I mean yeah it's loud, but it's a solid state so enough said there. Plus any recommendations on heads and cabinets at all? I'm looking more on the cheaper side.

What size stage? 15 watts should do fine for most smaller ones, and usually if you move onto bigger venues they have a PA system you can hook up to so you shouldn't need more anyway.

probably gonna be ranging from 50-120 people at most. plus I don't want to be drowned out by the drummer either. Plus is there any loss of sound quality when you run it through a pa system?
