This is supposed to be fun, so critique if you like, just try to put some effort into it, and give us something funny or interesting to look at.

The old threads just didn't fit anywhere so it was discontinued so i was hoping this would be a much more suitable place.

lol i was just gunna check up on the vg forum when i saw this wonderful section and this thread was the first thing to pop in my head.

I know i really should branch out and i will eventually. I've had a few projects in mind and I'm actually going to be getting into the flash gaming business if i ever start. I'mworking on a comp. sci. degree so it'd be perfect for me.

Common guys just try it out. I'm not asking you to convert to pivot or anything, its just a tool to play around with and have some animating fun!!

Few things.

1. Pivot is for fun purposes only
2. Its FREE!!! (unless your an illegal flash pirate with a pegleg and a hook)
3. I have version 8 of flash so no skeletons but that really isn't a reason not to animate with it.
4. Scratch that, I HAVE FLASH. I've used it. I know its capabilities. I never said pivot was the end all be all software, just a limited medium to play with.

6. Flash will come to me in good time. I'm finishing school first, but a friend of mine is asking me to whip up some movieclips/spritesheets, what ever u call them, for his flash game. So yeah easy work. (he's coding up a smash bros game for fun).

Anyway flash is great and the perfect animating tool. Pivot is just good fun.

Well, you have a very slight sense of easing at least but it's not consistent, which is important for pivoting. Mostly stiff, which can really hinder a stick animation.

Work up a few detailed sticks and get used to the stick making interface first before you get into using objects like that "knife" of yours.

Other then that its not bad for a first pivot and possibly first animation. I recon my first was probably worse.

I've heard the same things about flippy-books I used to make in elementary school, but since I picked up Flash I haven't progressed much.

They gave us packs of post-it notes to use for some book, but making animations was SO worth the bad grade.

lol, we'll i've done a few flip books out of boredom when i was in highschool, but it really didn't teach me anything about animation, but thats also the fact that you don't get much educated animation criticism from highschool friends.

Pivot was one of the first (if not the first) animation programs I used.
I think it's helped me in animating characters, especially walk cycles.

I used to do pivot all the time, yet it makes animation alot harder because there is no way to do inbetweens, and only one layer of onion skin. So it's really bare feeling, I always fuck up with easing on that program.

Anyway, had soem trouble with following-through on movements. Bone type things are hard to animate... :(
