How long has this idea been in the works? Several months now right? Haha. That's cool it has finally kicked off. I'm gonna be getting out of the Army before then, and I plan on doing some traveling and fucking around for a few months after I get out so I can get the whole "freedom" thing back into my head. I'll let you guys know a week or two ahead of time whether I'll be up in NYC then. Never been. I'd love to check the place out. Also, I'll be turning 21 right before the meet-up. I'm about to scroll through the thread and see who else is. A trip to the bar would definitely be in order. :P

Anyway, I asked Gory to push the meet to the Ferry since it's easier to find and less irritating to get to. Then we could take the train to wherever the hell we wanted and I'd be out of your hair before you goons decide to start drinking. I also have no problem bringing extra money for Luis to get wasted, or for someone to eat if we go to a real fancy restaurant like McDonalds. Since I live right across the water on Staten Island, it'd take me only about 30-40 minutes to get to the ferry and hopefully I'll be there before Gory :D

I'm still thinking about it--I really am, although I don't know if I'll make any final decisions for a while. It's very easy for me to get to the Whitehall Terminal, personally, although it might be a little hard to get to for people who aren't nearly as familiar with NYC as I am. Some of the people who plan on coming to this meet have never been here before. Bryant Park takes a shorter time to get to, and it's right in the middle of Midtown, so people would be less likely to get lost around there.

And please be aware that taxi fare is a lot of fookin' money in the city.

Yeah, I would highly discourage taxi riding, personally. The fares are already way too expensive as they are now, and taxi riding just got even more expensive recently due to a 50 cent hike, which will be used to fund the MTA as part of the bailout plan Albany passed this summer.

In have no problem walking, taking the bus or the subway. My sister just came back from NYC & said she got a subway pass for way cheaper than one cab ride.

Also, for anyone who's interested, here's a little cost estimate for the meetup if this is helpful to anyone. It's not precise, but I hope it gives everyone an idea of what to expect:

Transportation: $8.25 for a 1-day unlimited pass...for 2 days, the cost would be $16.50. However, unless we're going to take at least 4 subway rides per day, then a fun pass would be a bit overkill.
Museum of Sex: $14.50 + tax
Food (assuming we stick to fast food places only): should be no more than $10 or so. If anyone here really insists on going to at least one expensive restaurant, contact me and I'll try to see if I can work something out.
Bowling: $14-$15ish (including the shoes). Prices may vary depending on the time of day.
Booze: I'm not even going to bother estimating the cost; figure it out yourself.
Hookers: See above. And Valz, if you read this, that smile I gave for you on Stickam tonight counts, so I'm expecting a high-class hooker worth at least $200.

Some other places of interest that we might stop by at, depending on everyone's time, budget and level of interest:

Transit Museum: $3 for people ages 3-17, $5 for people 18 and older.
NY Aquarium: $13 per person. Even if we don't go in there, hanging out by the beach in Coney Island is a worthwhile experience in itself.

I haven't set any of this in stone yet, so bring on the suggestions if you have any.

And of course, if you're staying in a hostel or a hotel, those costs should be factored in as well, although prices around here vary widely.
