Museums are gay imo but they're going bowling/skating/karaoke/playing rockband/molesting young girls so that's some shit tourists don't do. Also, try not to get in the way in NYC, seriously they will truck your shit if you walk too slow.

REALLY?! Tell me more about this grand city! Is Times Square as amazing as people say?!

It's on a weekend

I live in the Midwest. So I'm going to have to fly.

No it's not, unless you like annoying motherfuckers who wave their shitty rap CDs in front of your face, tour bus companies aggressively trying to sell tickets, and clueless tourists who walk too slow.

Maybe I should just play nice and just tell you I live in New York. I have my whole life. In fact, I can probably walk to wherever it is you guys are meeting up. And I'm totally going to heckle you guys :)

Tonight I'm going

To New York city

The place I'll call my home

And tonight I'm going where the climate's shitty

Where I won't feel so alone

And I will build it up right from the ground

With my own bare hands

Until the sun doth set

On the silhouette of this broken promise land

Tonight I'm leaving

For old Manhattan

The place where I was born

And I will fight for hope

Like a peaceful baron

With Broadway lights forlorn

And as the buildings weep

I will not sleep

Until I dry their tears

And I will not rest 'til east and west side

Thunder with the cheers

For the land we hold so dear

PM me if you'd like to room with me and JohNNY, and please do it earlier than later. I'll be booking the room no later than February 11. In order to split the cost evenly, I'll need to know how many people express an interest.

Because I don't know how many people will be rooming with us, I've included a special disclaimer:
To keep things simple and cost-effective, I'll be reserving the room under my name. While it's not a good idea to do anything illegal in the first place, please do not do it in a room that has my name connected to it.

I'll keep you updated.

Just want to say guys, that if I lived in the US this, THIS would be the meet I'd attend, without a doubt. I see so many users I know of and like going and I just think how much I'd like to be there, plus it's New York baby.

If I had more money I would really consider it, but for me, for just a weekend visit, I cannot justify to myself spending that kind of money on a flight and hotel.

Still one day, maybe in the future. We'll see. Hope it all goes well when it happens anyway.

Also, revelant.

What I said there on Stickam is true, BTW--there are no official co-hosts for the meet. I decided on that a while ago, because I just want everyone coming to have fun and not worry about "co-host" titles and shit.

I never go to places like NYC anymore, but does anybody know if there are any NG meet-ups that will take place in Florida? Of course, my mom disapproves of me going out and meeting people who have been on the Internet, as she thinks they'll use me for porn or something, so I would never be able to go to one as long as I lived in the house.

Reality is a bitch, and the new Writing forum will crash & burn since it doesn't solve the same damn problem that took place over 2 years ago.

But yeah, is the Meet still on? Sorry for having been away for awhile.

Excellent.

Also, quick question for all the Canadians coming to this (Rig, FBIpolux and any others): what's your status on the passport?

If someone wants to volunteer to help get me the assets i need to setup a hub page for this then drop me a pm. Fyndir took the initiative to do it for his glasgow meet so thats why that has a hub/countdown page, it wasnt that i specifically snubbed this event.

This is a great idea and since I'm only an hour & change outside of NYC, I'd like to attend. Though I might have to be one of those Saturday-only folks. I don't know many people on the site but I guess the point of a meet up is to meet... up... yeah. I'll read through the thread & try to gather the info.

Also is it like Detroit in where you don't want to make eye contact with anyone?
I will be looking up other suggestions online but would much rather hear from you fine folks who may live there or have been there before.

Most people in NYC (excluding tourists and bums) are busy and moving quickly to their destination, so the opportunity for talking and eye contact is often minimal. The ones you need to avoid eye contact with are junkees and crackheads (usually identifiable by their quirky movements and tattered wardrobe) because they're just gonna ask you for money and/or a cigarette.
If a stranger is talking to you, they're probably trying to hustle you (especially in Times Square) so it is best to ignore them, tell them to fuck off if they're persistent. Don't fall for the "it's for the kids" line, that's bullshit.
If you smoke, don't light up a cigarette outside of Grand Central - the leeches come out of the woodwork.
Just a few general tips of conduct from my experiences in NYC.

The best excuse for this situation is "I bummed it from a guy inside".
