I've been wanting to go to one of these for a very long time. Since I live in Connecticut, getting to New York is now problem for me. I could hop the Long Island Ferry or take the train. The problem is money. I don't have any money now, and since I don't have a job at current I can't predict how much I'll have come March. My status thus far is "maybe".

Good to hear. I was wondering where you've been lately.

You didn't miss much, honestly. All I did was draw a stupid smiley face with the words, "There, I smiled" above it, showed it on cam, and I counted that as a real smile.

Flash those rosy tits of yours, he will smile on instinct.
For those of you not familiar with the area around Bryant Park, here's what it looks like.
The South East entrance of the park on 42nd and 6th Avenue is on the right side. Most likely, we'll all be beside the steps on either side. Reaching the area by subway is pretty easy: take the B, D, F or V trains to 42nd Street, or the 7 to 5th Avenue, and simply find this entrance. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I might attend this. But it's very close to my mothers birthday, so I will have to see.
More people need to be excited about me being there.
Wow that's awesome. I am going to start researching on things around there.

I'm from the UK but I was wondering about visiting NY at some point anyway so this interests me, I'm curious though, I am 18 and old enough to drink in the UK, is it true you need to be 21 to drink in the US? :/

What's wrong with living in Queens?
Would you rather live in the middle of nowhere with no transportation, few businesses, and with the nearest grocery store at least 1-2 miles away?
But yeah, there are some select Queens neighborhoods I mostly tend to avoid and that I think aren't livable. I consider Jamaica to be the most dangerous neighborhood, and I only go there for the Central Library and the 165th Street bus terminal. Many parts of Far Rockaway, Ozone Park and Flushing also have pretty high crime rates and questionable people just loitering outside buildings.
I don't know if I'll have time to take everyone to Queens when this meet happens, but I do want to spend a somewhat significant amount of time outside Manhattan. I think Brooklyn has quite a bit to offer...both the Transit Museum and the NY Aquarium I mentioned in my first post are in Brooklyn, but in completely different neighborhoods. Most of that will probably be reserved for the second day, though.

Who's going to attack you in Flushing? The Koreans who took over the neighborhood almost 20 years ago? I lived there for 22 years before moving near Jamaica nearly 8 years ago. I've found both to be pretty safe parts of the city.

Technically I would not be underage in my own country :P
But seriously though, 21 is way too old to wait, especially as you get to drive in the US when you're like 16? I don't see the logic.

To answer your first question: many of the inhabitants of NYCHA's projects situated in Flushing. I guess I should have said the parts of the neighborhood where the projects are, because I've seen some pretty intense fights there at times. Then again, there tends to be a lot of fighting and questionable people around just about every NYC housing project. Don't get me wrong though...I still visit Flushing every now and then, and there are many parts of it that are tolerable, but I still wouldn't live there.
Jamaica, on the other hand...well, North Jamaica is walkable. Not livable though, because I often see a lot of questionable people walking around. Some of them even have the nerve to stop me and ask for money to get on the F train, and I just want to tell them to fuck off. South Jamaica sucks a lot more ass though.

Must admit that the panhandlers near the F train can be annoying. Even more annoying are the drunk-ass gamblers who hang out all day and night at the OTB right in front of the 179th station. Drunk, loud, fighting-with-each-other, every fucking day. Sad -ass old-timers. They're like one major gambling loos away from being homeless ... Then they take up residence a few feet away on the same corner.
Also, I've been thinking about the alternate location that was proposed. Meeting at the ass-end of Manhattan near Water street, instead of Bryant park. You organized this, so it's up to you. There's a few historical spots near Water street. But yeah, more fun stuff near Bryant park.

I'll most likely take everyone down to Water Street eventually anyway--it just won't be the initial meet up spot. I briefly toyed around with making the initial meet location at Liberty Plaza Park on Church Street and Liberty Street or just anywhere along South Street, but then I finally settled with Bryant Park because I thought it'd be easier for most people to get to, especially considering that a few people coming to this meet have never stepped foot in NYC before.

When we get to the financial district, I can point out the spot of the worst terror attack of the last century in NYC. Before 9/11, there was 9/16 (1920).
It's ironic that people walk by the site everyday, and have no clue. You know where to look, you can still see the signs of the destruction.
