Reviews for "Bloodborne NES"

I appreciate the NES graphics, the remix of the soundtrack, and Bloodborne being one of my favorite games. However I found the controls not very intuitive; For example you could've easily routed the standard awd as movement jump and even including s for jumping down to a lower floor for instance. There's no reason for w+k to be the shoot control when they could've remained separate buttons. With criticisms out of the way have you considered hunter tools available similar to classic Castlevania power-ups? Because ultimately that's the closest game you'd be approaching with this style of gameplay. Of course you could also pump up the graphics and bring it closer to a metroidvania which is admittedly over played but still enjoyable.

Liked a bit, needs a little improvement on the mecanics of the game in general, the dogs were a pain in the ass.
anyway, nice game! good job on the graphics too!

Controls are bizarre, why not use the arrow keys? I understand for FPS games, or really any game that uses a mouse, why they use the WASD keys, but for a game like this it makes no sense. W+K mapped to shoot when it could just be another key, making the game worse. I understand that it was done to make it more NES-like but that's not a good enough reason.

Dogs are ridiculous, you would have to have lightning fast reflexes to consistently deal with them, right now the only way to deal with them is to know about them in advance. Character sprites take up too much room, which doesn't give you enough screen space to see what's going on: this relates to the problem with the dogs.

As others have said, shooting is nigh useless.

Art looks good. Everything else is pretty solid, really, but the flaws that are here are crippling.

I knew I was in trouble when I saw "W+K to shoot". I am sorry, but I couldn't enjoy this. The color scheme is abrasive to the eyes. I understand that you were going for "NES" style, and they did have some DIFFICULT games, with rough graphics, but this just feels like an endless loop of being sent back to the beginning while being annoyed by everything on the screen.

Great remake, though I have some gripes with the controls. First off, why have the jump button be L instead of W. This seems sorta minor but this threw me off on jumping and dodge enemies. Speaking of enemies, the hitboxes on some of them are ludicrous and the damage you take from some enemies is too high. Finally, the one great issue is the time to react to enemies. I had issues with the input time of attacks whenever I'd use the regular slash attack, I would either miss an enemy by a few pixels or i would hit one and a different enemy (usually those hounds) would run up and hit me. I suggest making the slash attack more viable with multiple enemies, because it would be a lot easier to deal with multiple enemies with one attack, instead i have to shoot and then slash. This gets repetitive and can really slow down my enjoyment of the game. I know this may be asking of much, and I understand that this is only a small project but next time try and have someone test and review it before publishing, just something for future reference. :)
