Reviews for "Playing With Letters"

Came here after seeing the sequel on the front page and your suggestion to play this one first. So glad I did. This game was amazing, granted not everyone will understand the riddles but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the final riddle was super satisfying if you payed attention to all the letters. Great job

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

It's awesome that you decided to check the first game out, before the sequel. Thank you for playing both games :D
Yeah, I think there's a certain niche that especially enjoy playing these kinds of games, while there will be ones that don't like them as much. But I'm sure people figure out which category they belong to fairly quickly :)
I'm glad you're one of the people that liked the games ^ ^
Thanks!

I normally don't write reviews for games over 6 months old, but this is my first time playing a game of this kind. And, I have to say that.... I LOVED it! The puzzles were pretty challenging. The story was thrilling. I too had already surmised Noel's location before solving the puzzle, but used the word ME instead. Lol

I also went and read ALL of the reviews, (after playing the game thank God), and was surprised to see all of the idiots. That for some reason were able to read the story, but not your comments. People's blatant disrespect really astounds me.

Since you did such a pretty decent job on this one, I suppose that it warrants a look for #2. Lol

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you, montgomery71! This is a really encouraging review :)
Yeah, I think these kinds of games are fairly unusual. Not text-based games per se, but the take that I have in these games.

I actually intentionally didn't use that word, so that it would be more difficult to guess.

If you read all the reviews, that's pretty dedicated :O!
There are always reviewers and players of every kind, but no need to worry, as an overwhelming majority of people have given really positive feedback in respectful manners. I also don't get disencouraged easily, so I tend to only remember the nice reviews anyway ^ ^

Thank you for the nice words, and I hope you enjoy the second (perhaps slightly more difficult) instalment :3

The play on words is amazing. I am a person who loves puzzles and wordplays so when I solved the last one I couldn't help but smile

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you, Eltrummor!
Glad to hear that this seemed to be the right kind of game for you :)

I had seen your sequel and saw that you recommended to play this game first, so I did. The game was astounding and I can't wait to play your sequel. The only thing that was a bit hard was that I had gotten the first real puzzle right, but I didn't think of making it one word, so I was stumped for quite a while. Otherwise, I loved every single word play used in this game. It was very clever. Additionally, I love that the letters alluded to the background story. Before you receive all the letters, the letters spell out "Nude Boy," and I thought it was so clever. This game makes you feel smart once you solve puzzles, and all the puzzles make sense. I hope the sequel is just as good =D

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for the super encouraging review! Now I really hope that the sequel isn't a disappointment :S

A fair warning. I've been told that the sequel is both more difficult, and slightly better than this one (by my testers). You can find out how true that turns out to be, yourself ^ ^

Initially, I thought about using separate words for the first puzzle, but upon googling it, every result showed them written together. I think that is because it's an actual official word (as it's an old profession, after all),

Oh yeah, I thought about that one for a while. Nice that you noticed the connection! Makes me happy to see you really paied attention to the story :D!

Since it's a fairly challenging game, and you managed to beat it, I think it's pretty fair to say that the game doesn't only make you feel smart, but actually shows you just may be ;)

Extremely good game, engaging, thoughtful, with a good storyline. I would love to see more from you, this is one of my favourite games on this site. Truly stellar. In the future maybe more artwork, length that kind of stuff would expand the experience, but honestly Ive found myself coming back to this game again and again every time i forget about it. Its just that good. Love it.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Awesome! Thanks you for all of the encouraging words :D
If you really like this game that much, maybe you'll be happy to learn that the sequel is at this point finished. I'm just waiting to do a few final things before I upload it. Either way, I hope it'll be playable on this site within a week! :)
It'll be interesting to see what people think of it, haha.

Thanks! ^ ^
