Reviews for "The Rise of a Knight"

Entertaining action game.

Some things you could include if you decide to do a sequel. Weapon upgrades or Finding weapons - Pretty self explainitory things such as a new sword or a bow, something to change it up.
Horse riding! - Those running scenes could have definitely used a mount because really a Knight is almost commonly known for the steeds that they ride into battle.
Shields - Great idea for both the hero and the enemies but you shouldn't be able to run through a shielded down enemy and continue attacking him.
Lock down - Not fun getting locked down in fire from a bow and axe goblin while a mace orc is constantly swinging away protecting them.
Useless coding - From what I played the jump command was useless and actually made you die more often than using your shield.

Somethings I did enjoy were the music, the background made the forest seem more alive, the personality of the character (Promising the orc he'd let him live then killing him made him seem like more of a realistic brooding hero.)
Overall good job.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Im so glad you liked the personality of the main character, Im glad you noticed I wanted to give him a bit of a less perfect feel. Your ideas for stuff in a sequel are pretty cool. I dont know about horse riding though, because once you start moving past those detailed backgrounds with a lot of speed the game might just collapse under the strain. I've really pushed the limits here with flash, I think. But I still need some work with optimizing and coding, I know. The jumping does have its uses, but most of the time its useless and I know I screwed it up a bit. Im still learning a lot about programming.

Cool that you liked the game!

Very good game

I liked it, good story line. Would have got alot more points from me though if you maybe had a level building scheme with stats like strength and defence and able to buy armour and weapons (If this is added later I appologise I haven't completed it yet)
My biggest issue with this game however, is the fact that it is SOO easy. I have seen alot of people mention this.
However, I do realise you made this easy on purpose, but it spoilt the gameplay for me...maybe you could add an easy and hard mode? and then an impossible mode, cuz then u feel amazing when you complete it lol! Anyway, keep up the good work

SeethingSwarm responds:

I like the idea of adding different difficulties, that's good! I dont know if I would be able to implement it into this game, but its a very good idea for future projects, thanks :) Im sorry you found it too easy, yknow, it was on purpose like you said you know. Some have even said that its too hard, but only a minor group. This is not a rpg though. Its a sidescroller hack n slash game, so it wont have stats in it. Its purely action and adventure.

Fun game

Only a few small gripes with the story aspect. Why was a member of the royal family traveling at night with only two guards?
Also, it's pretty tacky of him to agree to let the goblin chief live, then kill him.
Apart from that, good stuff.

SeethingSwarm responds:

It has been a peaceful place for a while, and people start getting careless, but they were 2 of Castle Furenhold's BEST guards though. I didnt want to make the perfect characters for this game, especially not with the main character. He is just a normal guard trying to do his duty, and most humans lie to get what they want, especially in extreme circumstances. The only time this guard lied in this entire game was when he was under extreme stress and needed to get information in any way possible, even if it meant lying. That's what people do, but I can understand that it might piss you off. Most people want to play with the perfect character when they play games.

Thanks for the review and for the high score, much appreciated!

Good game

Very good game! I need some hints on how to fight the spider in the caves...

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thank you very much!
The best way to kill spiders is with the heavy attack because your sword goes real low and it reaches on both sides of you, first behind you and then in front.

A good thing to kill the queen would be to learn its rythm, but even better is just to run past it before it spits that goo and hit it when its running away on the roof. Shield when it comes at you from the ground and then when it passes you, run after it using your quick attack constantly... I hope this helps :)

Good Game

I enjoyed it up to the point where i realized that the jumping seemed to be nothing more than for look; since the enemies could easily slash or stab you as if you were on the ground. Another off point for the game had to be the nigh impossible avoidance of damage, the attacks of the enemies generally were completed faster than yours so if there was more than one you'd certainly be hit when you attacked. Otherwise this game was a fairly interesting creation, it was fun and imaginative. The music was quite enjoyable

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks Im glad you liked the game :)
Well, its not entirely true that you would be hit if there were more enemies. It is possible, but it wont happen depending on your actions. If you keep swinging your sword and shielding at appropriate times, then you'll be fine.

The jumping does have its uses with things like spike balls coming at you and spiders, but I know that it can be improved. And while making this game, I've learned a lot of things to help me improve my next and other future games.

Thanks again for the review and feedback. Much appreciated :)
