Reviews for "The Rise of a Knight"

okay...

see it would be cool if there was a recoil and the guys weren't so rythimic with attacks and a quality button would be nice

otherwise it was a fun challenging game good job

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks a lot.
I agree with all your points and will live to improve them in future games :)

SWEEEEET

I loved, I enjoy the art, game play, and the literature was amazing. I found one thing,
can you make it able to save, cuz I got to the spider boss and no more.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks for the compliments!
Im sorry, unfortunately my programming skills are not good enough yet, but Im working on that. Hopefully in the future I will master the obscure art of making games able to be saved :)
Great that you liked it, please try again to play it through!

good game

im stuck on the spider >__<
but the ogre/goblin was fun to kill because all i did was jump over his head using the quick attack all the time, basically like a lag from the boss.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Cool!
You are being creative at killing the enemies. I like that :)
Thanks for the review!

Someone asked for tips

about the spiders. So, I'll share how I destroyed them--if you want to learn for yourself, do not read!
~~~
The spiders are totally destroyed by the heavy attack. I tried a bunch of stuff, and the friggin' little beasties kept killin' me when I was fighting the spider boss, but finally I found that two heavy hacks and they ran towards me would do them in every time. You don't even have to sheild!
As for you, Mr. Game Developer, I highly enjoyed the way my guy's moves had specific qualities and restrictions--how I could use the heavy straight from sheilding, but not the light, and how I could use the light in the air but not the heavy (Hack at the spidey! Hee.). I also liked how, as I said just above, you could find after some experimentation a set of moves that would totally destroy your enemy. Nicely done.
SeethingSwarm responds:
You are so right! The heavy attack is totally the right attack for spiders, good for you man. Thanks a lot for all the compliments as well. I really enjoy you actually understanding the method of how I designed the different moves. This review lifted me up :)
Thanks!
Overdone
Everything looked and sounded great. The gameplay however is way over done. This isnt something new; which is okay. However, that game is super linear and whats annoying is that there are no range weapons that you can utilize. Everytime I got hit, even if I had jumped over the enemy. I was back on the ground incapacitated for too long. Nothing super new and unique about this game.
SeethingSwarm responds:
Im glad you liked the art. I worked hard on the atmosphere of this game, as well as the combat. Im sorry you didnt like the combat, this game was a big learning process for me on how to do combat scenarios in sidescrollers. Okay, well, thanks for the review, Im sorry this did not entertain you at all.
Oh well, you cant please them all...
