Reviews for "From Life to Death"

it was, alright

but you should have worked on it much longer then just two days. adding some effects, worked on the repetitiveness of scenes.

liked it, and im waiting to see more.

ReklessCreati0n responds:

I'm glad you liked it, you won't see any more with this moral, but with the same heart. Thanks for the Review and vote!

Good, but not the best either.

This movie was ok... the animation could of used a li'l extra attention, but that doesn't matter. One error I found was when you wrote "Lonliness" instead of "Loneliness" dunno if you did it on purpose, but I suppose it doesn't matter. The music was a fantastic choice for the mood of the movie and it fit right in... Anyhow I'd give it a solid 3 and a 5/10 :) Don't worry keep up the potential and practice on the drawings ;)

ReklessCreati0n responds:

is it Loneliness? hmm i'll have to spell check that...

The drawings were actually "not finished" in a way, I wanted to make full blown characters, but was afraid I would loose interest quickly, *like I always do* and people said it was fine the way it was... So i just left it at that.

Thanks for the vote and review!

Just my opinion of course.

Great typography at the start.

I loved the moving lines you started with. (Brush strokes straightened?) The angular-wiggly look worked well.

I felt the straight lines and filled colours on the coffin didn't work too well given the style of everything else.

The pink/yellow/white characters were kinda hard to see against some backgrounds - specially the pink/yellow against the light pink.

The faded gradients worked wonderfully as did the relatively minimalistic animation. Though the characters didn't move much, the moving lines helped give it life.

The proportions were slightly out of whack - specially when the guy's holding the teddy bear. I understand cartoons don't need to be 'realistic', but the way the head expands slightly in that frame and the hand is so tiny looks wrong.

Seeing the lines, 'through' others didn't look too good in my opinion. A soft fill might have worked well.

Anyways, sorry to focus so much on the graphics, but despite your comments, I just didn't find an awful lot of emotional depth here. Sure, we can read messages into it - life is short, enjoy it; death comes to us all and other such things but to me it never seemed like you were telling a real story - it all just seemed sorta generic and I never really got swept up in it all like I thought I would shortly after it began.

I noticed that you had some parallels between his earlier life - when his father ignores him & the coffin - and later life. Is that meant to be the message? That life is cyclical? That we can get stuck in a rut?

Thing is, when I watch an animation like this, I don't want to be shown things I'm already aware of - I want to be offered an opinion, taken on a ride... essentially your animation didn't really 'speak' to me.

Sorry.

ReklessCreati0n responds:

Yeah, I understand fully, not everyone will get the same reaction from this as the majority are. Its one of those things you can watch once, enjoy, and remember it for that. I know I really can't watch it anymore because it becomes boring and I made it.

thanks for the review!

Made with a lot of heart.

Unfortunately it's drowning in a sea of hokey, cliche, cycle of life doop dee dooop. We live; we die. Beautiful, eh? The biggest problem w/ this flash was there wasn't a whole lot of animation goin' on. I mean honestly, if ya gonna make a cartoon, it helps if they move a bit. Sure this was about life and death, but the animation and characters seemed pretty damn lifeless to me.

ReklessCreati0n responds:

I do agree about the whole Cliche, aspect of the animation, The art style I decided to go with ( for some reason ) didn't really fit with me either, I actually asked several people if I should change it, but they said no. *shrugs* can't please them all I guess...

Thanks for your review and Vote.

im sorry... but blah

Mediocre at best.

What exactly is the point of the story? Life is one giant boring ass cycle?

Well my friend, only if you let it be.

Barely anything actually animated, you just had things slide across the screen, and slight subtle movements throughout. Yes i understand, you were tryin to be serious and all that, but i was bored to tears.

And the music..... it did indeed fit with the whole movie, very dull and boring.

Dont get me wrong though, it wasnt horrible, just not for me.

ReklessCreati0n responds:

I actually said in the Authors Comments: that this is a serious flash...

but: here is what i was trying to get across, maybe it will help you understand a bit more.

Life is a cycle, to most, not everyone makes it that way, those are the ones who do something with their lives and not fall into the cycle of a redundant life span. This was to show people what life is like, for those who didn't see it that way, that way they can think about their own lives, and get out of the vicious cycle.

Get it?
