Hi, I'm an illustrator looking to collaborate with a musician on a 1.30 - 2 minute original track (no AI, please) for a webcomic I’m in the middle of creating. This is a volunteer position for a passion project of mine.

I'm looking for a song between 1.30-2 minutes long that will be overlaid ontop a foreboding illustration/s of a dragon swooping down and breathing fire on a fleet of pirate ships. The Captain of the fleet is associated with an accordion, so more classical instruments would be ideal to give it an old-world vibe, but more rock-heavy instruments can be introduced as the song ramps up in intensity. if you feel that it will help

There is another character who is represented by a Lute, but this character is a pacifist, in opposition to the Captain, who is a pirate. So you could go a more melancholy/less intense melody when the character shows up.

In the middle of the animatic both instruments are ideally wrestling for the ‘narrative’ as it’s meant to be a combination of two character's memories merging and disfiguring into one as they come together in the end.

Something with a similar sound to a Taste for Adventure which I quite like due to how moody it sounds and Deliver Us for how old-worldy.

If we feel you’re the right fit for the project, we’ll provide you with an animatic we’ve made to give you a general sense of the timing and pacing we’re looking for. You don't have to be familiar with Homestuck or our fancomic to apply but it may help to have some context if you already do.

Please DM me if you’re interested with some examples of instrumental work you've made, or if you have tracks that fit this you’ve already created that you’d be willing to manipulate the instruments for or let us use, I'd love to showcase your work.

I know this is a big ask, so I can also offer a character drawing in return as thanks for your collaboration, if not a character drawing then I could always design an album cover for any of your upcoming work.

We aim for the 9th of October to release the animation.
