No. You'll get mentioned in the introductory for reaching 10k in one stat; after that, you'll disappear from the list updates again until you hit 9k in a second stat. Then, you'll get mentioned in the "closest to list entry" section each week until you actually make it to the list.

And you do have a good chance of making it, too. :) With more than 5k saves already, you're more than half-way there...

Busy busy weekend. But to those saying "OGM, so late", don't forget last week (Posted: 3/6/06 12:47 AM). Tonight isn't all that much different. All the data was pulled on Saturday night, as usual, but I was out all Sunday so the update itself had to wait until tonight. And then I got all distracted by the start of Sopranos season 6 and then Hellboy was on... god, am I gonna be tired at work tomorrow... er... in 6 hours and 30 minutes, actually.

Also, regarding unannounced changes in list-scheduling.... no, I wouldn't do that. However, that was a good guess. There will be no list update next week.

This weekend's update is actually the 52nd consecutive update of the pentalist on consecutive weekends. That would be a full year of weekly pentalist updates.

It's also 52 straight updates of the 2x10k version, which began right when I shifted this list from every two weeks to every weekend (when the VP list was discontinued by myself after the NG lister era ended).

It's not the reason I'm changing things, but it marks a good place to change them. I haven't decided yet, but I will either be updating this list every other week... or, and this is starting to seem more likely because of my increasingly stressful work weeks, and not wanting my weekends to be so full of list updating.... once per month. Most likely I would aim for the first weekend of every month.

That's a drop from 52 to either 26 or 12 updates a year. But that's the way it is. I think you'll find that it will create way more rankchangery fun on the updates, huge gains, and lots more "new entries and new status changes" at once, anyway, so it has its good sides. Main one being that I waste less time... or at least the same amount of time LESS OFTEN. On my precious precious weekends/time off work. #;-}>

That being said, can't quite a bit of the work needed to do the list be automated? Stats-pulling, creating/formatting the main list, the 2x10k/9k list, the 1x10k mentions and so on should all be doable without much user interaction; the only thing that'd couldn't be automated of course would be your comments. ^_~

Well, that's the part that makes me fool okay about it. Not very many people who came before my signup are in front of me in... well, any stat at all. But the problem is the higher proportion of people who came AFTER my signup and are ahead of me in exp specifically. I'm slowly taking care of that, bit by bit.

A couple months ago, I was ranked #102. I'm ranked #97 now. Picking up 5 spots these days is a huge amount for me, so I'm quite satisfied. I know some slooooooow, slow times are ahead, though. Just getting past #95 and then #90 is gonna take long enough. Seems like TheJoe broke into the top 100 like 2 years ago, and he's not quite yet (though he is close) to the top 50 yet.

I don't want to conquer the top 50 exp list like I did the top 50 b/p list, though. I just want to get ON it. It may take about 5 years. But it will happen, as long as the site and the exp system stick around. I ain't gonna be the thing to cause that goal to not be reached, let's just put it that way.

Although I doubt we coulda have made similar jokes had we all remembered/known she's your partner and not your wife. Making the jokes about "the girlfriend on the side" just don't have the classic archetypical relationships then.

But anywho, I've been with my girlfriend for almost 6 years now, so I think your no-need-to-get-married mindset is just plain fine. I wouldn't call the reason my gf and I haven't gotten hitched yet a jinx-avoidance desire, though. JINXES DON'T EXIST.

Well, the updates won't be weekly anymore, so this weekly pattern nonsense can end. In fact, due to not updating the list every weekend, I might actually just plain be around a bit more to post a post or two every now and then (even on weekdays, GASP!), so... we'll see how all of that works out next month.

Of course I enjoyed the week break. But this week, I've had computer problems. Missed one deposit, but other days, Andersson deposited for me, so thanks to him. That missed deposit, oh well, it was only one day.

I've taken one day off from work (aside from the holidays the company observes, which is just 9 per year) since I began work there in June of 2005. So I wouldn't know anything about any week-long breaks.

However, I'm saving up my paid time off for when I move from this apartment to a new one in a few months. I might take a week or a bit more off at that time.

Out of school... for good? Or for summer? I'm not sure which you mean, there IS a difference after all. #;-}>

I know what you mean, time flies by haha, I just thought of all the 10k saves discussions I had a long time ago now that I made it, mostly with you and iscrulz. Feels like it was yesterday I was trying to figure out if I'd get the exp or the saves first, and when that would be.

Turned out to be quite closer together in the end. And yep, time sure does fly by.

Anyway, thanks for an awesome list man, and I have now reached my final ranking, triplelisted, with the 10k exp I just got.
