Ha, it really is a bit of a crawl at the moment... it sickens me that so many of my 0's come to nothing, but I will keep plugging away anyway. I thought the top 50 was an impossible dream not long ago, so to be getting so close is victory enough!

Missed 13 save updates, but 15 blam updates. Why are you doing the blam updates more often than the save ones now? They certainly need them less. #;-}>

In any event, THANKS x 15 FOR LIST UPDATEAGE WORKS, COOPSTER!

Well, Wade did quite a few people on this list a favour, clearing out some flash and as a result, we've seen some people's Blam totals take a leap. Others have remained stationary, so we can only hope that more spam follows, so that we can continue blamming it, causing us to climb further.

I was waiting on a single whistled movie I tried to blam in July of 2009 on my alt-alt gfox... for 13 months. On Clock Day 2010, I finally went ahead and chalked it up to a never-to-be-gotten point and blammed 1 movie to retire on.

Less than a month later, BOOM, +1'ed again. Sad day. ;_; All cleared up, though, thanks to Bahamut and Tom. :::flashes gang signs at them::: YEAH, BOYS.

And then your whole worldview will SHATTER.

Coop83, the thinking man's Redneck.
You cannot defeat redneck NASCAR A+B=C logic, so... you might as well join in. That's the spirit!

Oh dear. Coop's modeling his NASCAR redneckness on Cletus from the Simpsons. O_o

Notepad > Wordpad, but yes... very good plan.
Notepad is only good for copying and pasting to and from spreadsheets. Wordpad doesn't scroll across so that's the better option for multi-quote replies.

My notepad has wrap on, which is bad if I want to save text and reload it later for posting, but if I'm doing all the posting in one session, it doesn't fuck anything up, and there's no scrolling involved, so notepad works fine for me.

Twice in a row, I'm so happy.

Well, now you've been through the desert on a horse with no name for many a month. Jeez, about 18 months since my last honouring of you with a baha-only reply (in this topic, at least). Sadly, that streak will be continuing for a little longer, as my non-update replyage isn't long enough to merit more than one combo-post.

It's to do with when my laptop is 4 years old, it'll look shit for that time's standards.

Is your laptop 4 years old yet? Feels like it should be considering how long I've been absent from this thread. #;-}>

Yes it is. The map seems rather unused. Then again, I haven't played much of it either.

I always love how we can identify which maps the pictures are showing. That just shows how well designed and memorable the TF2 maps are.

Speaking of Offblast, I actually made a few other funny gmod expressions when I did that Heavy one. Here's Demoman after a bottle o' SCRUMPY!

I hope everyone had a very festive few days. I myself have been inundated with projects requiring work, so I've been forced to the sidelines with others. Still, enver mind, I'm almost back on track now :)

Milestones:
68,000 Blams - DrJam
62,000 Blams - illuminate
27,000 Blams - LatinoRalf
20,000 Blams - QuikFox
19,000 Blams - Nightforce666
18,000 Blams - milinko959; Rarebreed

Top 5 Gainers:
+ 525 - harryjarry
+ 417 - DrJam
+ 395 - LittleWashu
+ 301 - Coop
+ 296 - Ultor

3rd? Damn it real life and computer problems caused me to lose my second place spot.

Most Blams Gained: harryjarry (+525)

Not surprised at this one bit since he is in the portal all the time.

Most Ranks Gained: LittleWashu (+5)

Booya I may not have beaten HarryJarry in total points, but I did beat you in rank ups :P

Alright! I have entered the top 80 blammers and I will most likely gain another rank on the next update. I think the portal has been more active lately and I had a feeling that more crap was submitted than usual, which would explain my slight increase in blams gained.

Thanks for the update Coop!

Geez. I thought I had reasonable month for blams but it turned out pretty shite, with just a lowly 17th on the gainers. And now ADV starts voting again after a period of dormancy. And sneaks me out of another spot.

Not happy ADV. And then there's Cyberdevil still keeping me honest.

and we'll talk more Blams in 2011, no doubt!

Possibly re-forming the Blam Club to try convert NG back to the good old days, put and end to these mindless 5 voters and there's enough of us moderately high to high voting power members, that we could and should make a difference. Worth some thought. But enough, I digress.

Not really. If I wasn't away from the portal on monday, and tuesday of last week (Normally two days don't make a difference, but on those two days a high number of Flash movies came in) as well as having a few computer problems near the end I would have had a couple more blam points. While I wouldn't have had as many as HarryJarry, the gap between me and him wouldn't have been 130 blams.

But it is just that people tend to vote to protect and some auto protect, and As Bahumat said some time back as a result of that Crappy flash that should be blammed get protected. If more people watched/play the Flash that comes in instead of auto 5ing then more Blam points would be coming and the number of a lot of people wouldn't be so low (in the Blamming department that is)

Yes I know this and can appreciate what your saying totally. But I do have a hard earned 17,500 blams and I know times on NG have changed, (for the worse, portal wise that is), what I'm saying is, its high time we higher ranking devotee's changed things back to the old days, when blams were more valued than saves. I for one prefer the blam point anyday, and I know I'm not alone in my thinking. I know the quality of flash has improved greatly over the years, but the amount of shite thats passing through the portal nowadays is just ridiculous. Its time to start the rebellion. Sign me up since I love blams more then protects myself. If you don't believe me the amount of Blam points I get in a month is proof of it. When I became active again I have more blams then saves. Now thanks to this retched clockday fad (Meaning going protect crazy) I have more saves then blams. Don't get me wrong I vote fairly, however more protect points come into the portal then blams and now a lot of people's profiles are looking like that toocool guys profile (He set the protect tread now people are dickriding his statement.

If only the kids paid attention these day to what I say - I get around 50 points per day and I make sure that I watch each and every piece I vote on first. They get dealt with more realistically by me and as a result, I feel the portal is a better place for my presence.

I get that easy but I am guessing that is because I am in the portal more. But still most of them can't help it. They want the points, and if the supposed trend is to auto protect then 9 times out of 10 like toadies following a bandwagon they are going to do just that. Others are just too lazy and just vote the way they think the flash will go. But regardless of this, like Gamejunkie said we have a lot of voting power, and if we use it correctly then we have a good chance of getting the right stuff blammed.

Oh I am on in the morning and I do get my blam points. on a real good day I can get 15 to 20. (Which is terrible compared to 2005-2008 when I could get 50+ in a day.) and as I said before and you have it is because of stupid shit like this that you half the time are just shy of getting on the the top ten list.

On the subject of crap flashes passing when they should be blammed right away, I've noticed it happening for a long time now. I may be retired from the portal but I wouldn't mind helping out from time to time with my alt to hit them with the 0 button. If you see any flashes that are likely to pass but shouldn't, feel free to drop me a PM if I appear online on the BBS. I know it sounds like mass voting but better to keep these flashes at bay than to let them pass, right?

The List:
Rank) Blams | Gain | User
016) 40,000 || + 000 || Bahamut
018) 39,583 || + 074 || Phantom

I see Phantom made yet another comeback. Assuming he doesn't go AWOL again, he'll easily pass me in a few months for blams and B/P. He's not too far off from 37,777 saves either.

I wasn't trying to be condescending - I was referring to the "kids" on the portal all the time that say "hey, there are free protect points, if we vote 2-5 on everything!"

To be utterly fair though, there is so little benefit you gain from a high voting power, that we aren't that much more advanced. It's one reason that I wanted Tom to give a VP boost of a few additional percent for every additional 10,000 B/P you gain over 30,000. My VP would be nearly 15 votes then and would that make that much of a difference? Hard to say if I were on my own, but who knows?

Maybe some sort of Stickam channel?

I know that, you know that and so do all of the people that we consider even borderline regulars of the Wi/Ht all know that. The problem is that some of the meagre voting power bonus that we have with our accounts gets cancelled out by people such as Afro_Stud, Toocool100 and various others that probably but don't necessarily vote 2-5 on marginal flash, when they should consider voting 0 (or avoid voting on in Toocool's case)

If we could get them to change their ways, we would have an easier time and reinstate some parity to the portal.

Playing devil's advocate once more, I must say that if this does happen, a lot of flash that are being made by genuine artists will get blammed and this will probably result in a few potential flash artists of the future leaving Newgrounds, as they get banned for 15 days, for submitting 2 blammed entries within a month.

This won't stop the spammers, nor will Tom raising the threshold to 1.8 or even 2.0 after 250 votes, which has been mooted. Much as we'd like him to, this would only hurt the soloists, not the spammers, who are the real blight on Newgrounds.

I see Phantom made yet another comeback. Assuming he doesn't go AWOL again, he'll easily pass me in a few months for blams and B/P. He's not too far off from 37,777 saves either.

One of my least favourite Newgrounders has returned. Oh joy.

Even that won't do much good. Here is why. Say if Tom did just that and added the extra voting power. Guess what? once those "Kids" as you refer to them as get to those number they will get the same boost in power. Hell the only thing we may have over some of them is the EXP factor but still for some of us more then others it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Maybe some sort of Stickam channel?

I may be retired from the portal but I wouldn't mind helping out from time to time with my alt to hit them with the 0 button. If you see any flashes that are likely to pass but shouldn't, feel free to drop me a PM if I appear online on the BBS. I know it sounds like mass voting but better to keep these flashes at bay than to let them pass, right?

Tell me about it. I have seen choco break pass so many times it isn't funny. What's more I have seen people leave reviews saying that they have seen it 6-7 times in the portal with no changes. I also remember Tom himself saying that the it isn't allowed for people to try and pass that as their work. However does it get blammed or Flagged? No it gets mindlessly protected only to be deleted by the authors sometime later by then the damage is done (Meaning the users trying to do the right thing are punished while people doing the wrong thing get more powerful)

But the problem didn't start here. It started when Spam crews (which came before my NG time) started abusing the voting system. It was because of this abuse that got the oh I can't blam this flash so I might as well go with the flow and protect attitude going. Hell I have seen (and I bet you have seen it as well) some user trick people into protecting a blank screen. Then there is the abmonation known as clock day (I don't hate clock day but what it was made to stand for) Where people just blindly press 2-5 just because it was made out that only saves exist.

I doubt Afro_Stud is one of them myself since by looking at the Blam list he does get his fair share of blam points. Hell if Ultor (Who I don't really know well) got two points less Afro_Stud would have had 5th place. As for Toocool100 yeah I kind of figured her was doing that for a while. It is just in my case Even if I have a good feeling that a borderline Flash is going to pass 9 times out of 10 I still would vote 0 or 1 and sometimes it works in my favor.

If we could get them to change their ways, we would have an easier time and reinstate some parity to the portal.

It is because of this reason that some people tend to be nice and vote up borderline flash so they don't scare of new flash makers. However I have to say this. If they think is hard (which isn't really isn't) to get flash on NG now they should have tried in 2005-2007 (excluding clockday) when people had blams on the brain. I personally think right now it is the easist to get flash on site because of this and if they want to wine because they failed and give up instead of working to improve and try again then I say don't let the door hit you on the way out. (I know I sound harsh but it is the same way in life offline as it is NG)

I'm not too fond of him and neither is anyone else around here. There, blank filled for you.

I see. :::makes mental note to not make posts saying I like Ultor:::

P.S. That's one hat, lol.
Huh? You mean you're charging me a hat for the assistance? Pfft. Apparently I should have gotten a hat from you for catching up on Thanksgiving, so nevermind. WE'RE EVEN. #;-}>
But I gave you MILK! Oh whatever, the catchups are for the assistance with getting your gfox alt down to 36 blams.

BTW, I still haven't gotten a milk from a drop, so that milk bonus for my thxgiving catchups is still very much appreciated.

Now if only I could get the NEW polycount weapons.

I got the bear claws as a bonus for buying keys pre-xmas (first time the bonus has been useful to me), got the amputator via a gift after complaining about how many weapons it takes to craft it.... and just got the bear claws again as a drop yesterday (yay, no "store bought" text on them anymore, deleted the original).... and traded for the new heavy minigun last night.

So, 2/3 heavy items and 1/2 medic items... but still 0/2 demo items. NEED MOAR SET WEAPONS, but no crafting 'zem. Too much of a rip, cept the steak sandvich and the nade launcher, which aren't quite as expensive as the others, at least. That'd still leave me with one medic and one demo item I need, so I suppose I'll be trading for them if I don't get them next week, say.

</tf2 drop/craft/trade system>

I AM VERY HAPPY! <--- I haven't forgotten to warn you of any links I post.
Did you film that on arena_offblast?

</excellent map recognition skillz>
Yes it is. The map seems rather unused. Then again, I haven't played much of it either.

Back when it was new, before Valve made it a community map, I played it a ton on 2fort2furious, where it came up a lot after arena mode started, it was one of the first good custom arena maps along with lighthouse.

I always love how we can identify which maps the pictures are showing. That just shows how well designed and memorable the TF2 maps are.

Well, not ALWAYS, but in this case I was very pleased to recognise it. #;-}>

Speaking of Offblast, I actually made a few other funny gmod expressions when I did that Heavy one. Here's Demoman after a bottle o' SCRUMPY!

He's drunk. What's the medic's excuse (in the background)?

I'm well aware there are some big voters out there who are likely to be voting high on spam but would you rather we don't make an attempt at all? Imagine how many people gave up with 0'ing on those submissions because of that thought? We just need to persevere.

Playing devil's advocate once more, I must say that if this does happen, a lot of flash that are being made by genuine artists will get blammed and this will probably result in a few potential flash artists of the future leaving Newgrounds, as they get banned for 15 days, for submitting 2 blammed entries within a month.

I never said anything about submissions by novice animators. I'm just talking about 0'ing on the spammers. Like I said, if there's any spammers making an attempt to get a flash through, I'll happily check the flash myself and 0 it if it's bad.

I haven't even got milk from a drop either. I had to craft it in the end. Sure, I could have spent less via trading but getting good trades requires extreme lurking on Steam's forums.

So, 2/3 heavy items and 1/2 medic items... but still 0/2 demo items. NEED MOAR SET WEAPONS, but no crafting 'zem.

Loch N Load is easy to get right now considering crafting a secondary weapon for Demoman guarantees you that.

the steak sandvich

Requires Bonk and Kritzkrieg for Crit-a-Cola and then craft it with Sandvich. Sure, it's not as expensive but Crit-a-Cola isn't easy to get. Crafting is the only way, unless you're really lucky.
