I'm not sure about that. It is staggering now, but the amount of new users that signed up specifically to upload audio was pretty staggering earlier too, it just wasn't as noticeable in the other portals, or forums, or anywhere else. And Geometry Dash wasn't an onsite game, so it probably didn't have as direct or big an impact on performance.
It does seem like FNF will surpass any impact GD might've had, but so far hmm... that was a pretty crazy wave too.

It shouldn't be possible to happen more than once, now I'm curious. The archive goes back to 2003 (maybe earlier, there's a batch without dates at the end) and is searchable, you only come up for today's date.
