Anyway, there are loads of Muslims in Britain, very possibly more than in America per capita, and a lot of them are members of the insular and segregationist Wahhabi sect. So I'd blame Wahhabiism.

I know loads of Muslims and none of them are radicalised, they all reckon England is a pretty good place, and while we might have some political disagreements, they all disagree with terrorism. The radicalised Muslim is rather rare.

If Mexicans were Muslims then maybe you'd have far more radicalisation. The demographic bloc that UK )or European) Muslims make dwarves that of US Arabs. And let's remember that Germany and France and Spain also have radicalised Muslims and a non-interventionist foreign policy.

Your newspaper headlines are about swarms of Mexicans, and ours are about swarms of Muslims. Can you picture there being more radicalisation if Mexicans were Muslim?

And it is to do with school shootings; it's clearly not that difficult for someone in the states to become 'radicalised' with a 'fuck the world' ideology.

but why would Muslims be pissed off with America?

O wait

It's startling how Zoraxe7 has consistently answered fewer of my points and examples - I make a post talking about how religion is acting in Israel and he replies with one post about Muslims in Britain.

Or Canada

What's interesting is that half the time they don't seem to give a fuck as to the foreign policy of the country they're attacking; some branches of Islam have built up massive anti-West ideologies that are closely entwined with religion

Are you honestly suggesting that without the hateful scripture of the Koran that the attacks would have occurred?

And it is literally impossible for him to admit that religion has acted negatively in any situation.

Go on, admit it. Mick, too. You can surely admit that, at one time in history, out of all the examples atheists have provided, that religion has done one immoral thing.

It's also mildly entertaining that I was ranting to SadisticMonkey on the last page about religion, particularly in regards to its falseness, yet none of our religious regulars thought to discuss my concerns and save my soul.

Also if Islam isn't responsible for Muslim Radicalisation, but the UK is, then how comes it that they're more than willing to blow themselves up to take out other Iraqis? How come you've got two abortion doctors over 10 years on the Christian side, and countless deaths over a few months on the Islamic side?

I am also somewhat horrified and very concerned by Zoraxe's disinterest in the dangers of theocracy.

Using Zoraxe's logic, we can infer that all middle eastern countries and most of Africa just happen to have 'bad politics' that causes the normally peaceful Muslims to go bad. Hrmm.

It's sheer coincidence that some Muslims want a Muslim state that implements Sharia law, and it's all due to British Imperialism centuries ago. It's a complete coincidence that their theocratic political system is based off Islam, and the area would be just as repressive if it was secular.

Secularism is equal to theocracy, if you can blame someone else for it and avoid admitting religion can act badly. And Tudor and Stewart Britain would have had just as much religious oppression if they were founded on secular ideals. Theocracy is nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with Britain.

I am kinda hoping he'll say something intelligent next time. I've kinda had enough with someone blaming global problems on Britain just because they don't want to admit religion is a bad influence. Like, the denseness he's exhuded, the apologism for the catholic church condom thing and then ignoring our rebuttals - I can't hack discussing with someone like him that much.

Response to The Atheist Army 2007-12-22 03:24:16

He keeps saying 'the link between theocracy and religion is overblown and everything is Britain's fault', providing no decent arguments or evidence for this clearly questionable statement, and systematically ignoring every point we make. Like, there are two or three pages of unanswered arguments, but he's still here, as hard-headed as ever, desperately trying to get me to concede to one point and ignoring the rest of my arguments.

I may as well take this opportunity to welcome our new atheist friends; don't know why this club gets shit when it seems to be only intelligent and reasonable atheists who stick around, so they can get called small-minded by people who believe in the Trinity.

Is it true that in some Christian denominations that if you deny the holy spirit you are damned for an eternity of Hell because it's unforgivible?

If so, what if a Religious man did it by accident? You know, like when you're drunk and you say the wrong thing lol

Jesus said it himself actually.

Mark 3:28-29 28: "Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation."

I got God is Not Great by Hitchens this year, and I was discussing my desire for popular science books over the table and my stepdad gave me loads. So after a few months reading my debating skills on this issue should be astronomical.

By 'popular science' I mean abut the Big Bang, evolution, and quantum theory.Funny the religious don't read about these subjects, if they're evidence of God's doing.

The fact that people of religion have read it but reject the arguments is actually proof that they are delusional, which is sort of ironic I guess.

I've read it so many times :) Dawkins is great. I agree, but the thing about the religious is that if they don't already question their group's views, and want to break free, they don't listen to logic or reason.

I've been working on my parents for about 6 years now, and nothing. I'm on other forums discussing religion with the religious, and it's the same old story. They're also VERY hypocritical about proof.

I drank a 10 year old whisky today.

It was smokey, like seeing your grandfather sitting on a chair infront of a fire smoking a cigar or pipe. Quite a relaxing drink.
