So update: I think I've finished the structure of the song, and written the lyrics -- but I think the rest of this month is going to be dedicated to the arduous process of enduring the creation and mixing of this song, because it's traumatic for me, but I think it ought to be finished.
It is said (in the description) that it can be only between 100 to 140 BPM. Your Welcome XP

Welcome, and good luck!
Is there any limit to genre? sticking to the melody might result down to trance
or can we use other scale and same melody
or omit some notes inside the melody
or can we use melody as verse/chorus and different melodies?
I only knew pop song though so I might consider joining after these clarifications :D

Yes

Some, not all

Yes. Some form of the melody needs to be in the song.

Oh good, so we can create a variation of the melody? In other sense, like... mix notes of the melody a little bit?

A bit, but not too much.
Welp, I'll try... lets see what I can make.

(this continues from a dm i had with zophar) and this is why you have to make sure your stimulus material is really, really good. I know a few people already who are deterred from this competition because the melody you provided doesn't resonate with them, which sucks because they're really talented people

Yeah I know, but this melody has been used in so many good ways from the submissions I've heard so far.

Here's my go at it. Tried to use the melody in a couple ways to get some mileage out of it. Fun contest.

Thanks!
Here is my entry. The original melody is indeed a bit overdone for my taste, had some trouble making it fit and making it sound like it makes sense for it to be there. The genre I did this in is Darksynth/Synthwave, so it's quite loud, just letting you know.
Anyways, tell me what you think

Basically, here's my take on it: if you can take a piece, which is not great by many people's standards, and make it into one of the best that people have ever heard, then you have mastered the art of arrangement.
I think the challenge is to see if we all can do that. There was once a user called FirePowerX (since deleted his NG) who had a remix competition with a song of his, Eliminator, which was pretty jarring and whatnot. But the things that people came up with -- and I still have the playlist to prove it -- were pretty good.

I'd love to see that playlist, if you don't mind sharing.

Some items are missing because they were either removed from NG by mods, or voluntarily deleted... but here it is, what's left of the entries. It was a small contest to be sure, but hearing this will give you an idea of what the song is like.
The original was done with the most jarring sounds imaginable, but since FirePowerX is gone from NG, so is the original.

Oh hey... I remember that contest. How I am right now compared to then was almost completely different. I was not prepared for that contest, even though I said I was (I knew I lied to myself).
I am much better off for contests now than I was last year. :)

As we all should be. Good on you, though :D

Anyway, I think a lot of us enter into these contest for exposure, because the more traditional routes dont really garner as much attention as we would like.
Music production is always a learning process and sometimes you may find yourself in a bind where your songs aren't "good enough", but eventually things will stick and you'll find your groove per se. After, the attention will come.
I understand the feeling, but I guess for me, the frustration isn't so much with contests as it is with casting my net further, outside of NG: I've had a good run of two tracks that played on the BBC, but then nowt after that. But yes, I understand you -- anything to get that little bit more of your name out.
I'm not the best at mixing -- at least, more complex things; I do my best -- but if you ever wanna talk mixing, composition, or just anything, feel free to PM me, or Discord if you've got one. If it's any little bit I can do to help.

Yeah, it is a reply for someone (i forgot the name).
Hello Newgrounds!
I tried to remix the loop above. This is what I got:
https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/822822
Tempo - 130BPM.
Duration - 2:01.
Key - same as original.
What do you all think about it? Please let me know your opinion, and I'll try to improve my tune.
I'm going to give it a shot, time to compete. For real this time ;)!
