Hey man, I don't disagree. I just want everyone to be able to finish but it's not fair for those who worked hard to finish on time. Sorry if my request came off poorly!

I also agree. The time table is there for a reason. We must not forget, that in the beginning the tournament already was extended by a week.
I won't be able to finish and the reasons why I didn't make it are my own.
All the more credit to the people who will be able to finish in time, and create something beautifull.
Well I guess it's time to say that I give up. I couldn't finish my entry in time. I got a job right after Open Round ended so I barely had enough time to work on my cartoon and when I did come back home from work in the evening, I'm way too exhausted and unmotivated to work on my entry. I even had trouble thinking of a good story for it (I eventually settled with a story that didn't even go well with this round's theme). nah cause then it would really just be a 'who can take the most time off work or school without fully ruining their life' contest
having said that, i don't really care much either way. it'd be super cool to see finished pieces from everyone instead of unfinished animatics, but i also doubt many contestants were looking for nata 2105 to run into 2016.
While I would love to see everyone finish their entry, working under a deadline has always been a major part of this contest. Managing the time you do have (be it only a day or the full 3 weeks) is a really important skill to learn. Know your limitations and skills - how much can you get done in the time you have? If you only have a couple of days in your schedule to animate, then don't write a 10-minute epic animation filled with action scenes and low-angle 3D Frame-by-Frame rotating walk cycles. Because there's really nothing more sad than seeing an animatic for something that the animator obviously didn't have time to pull through on.
tl;dr - Best to make something simple and refined than something elaborate and unfinished.

I have to forfeit my position in the Novice round. At the cost of making excuses, other projects took up too much time and led to me scrapping two subpar cartoons, and plainly, I don't know if I could bring myself to upload what I've managed to make of either one.
I appreciate the opportunity and the support from the NG community in this contest. I look forward to sharing future content with this awesome community. Best of luck to everyone as this round ends and for the rest of the competition.

Unfortunately, between working full time and going on a big roadtrip/ family reunion, I haven't even come close getting my cartoon finished :( It really isn't in a presentable state and I'm very reluctant to post another unfinished animation. So I have to say that I won't be submitting anything for tomorrow.
I really liked participating in the tournament though! It got me to start actively making cartoons again, and that's what I wanted most out of making the effort to join. (Deadlines fuel production like nothing else!).
I wish I could commit more time to the tournament, and I wish I could put it higher on my list of priorities, but the short deadlines just don't meet up with my schedule at the moment. If next summer I find myself with more free time, I will undoubtedly be back to take another stab at the tournament!
Until then, I will hopefully continue the momentum this tournament has spurred in my animation-making and completely finish a cartoon!
Good luck and good job to all the animators that have/will submit cartoons!

Cartoons are cool
I am unable to finish by the deadline and I do not have much footage to show. Therefore, I will forfeit my position for the Novice Round. This tourney was a wonderful experience and this mishap will serve as a lesson to me to meet deadlines when they are due.
Look forward to watching all the other entries.
