Here is a list of people and companies supporting and opposing SOPA:

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h32 61/money

With the financial backing of companies like Sony, Nintendo, Disney, NFL, Comcast, Walmart, and Viacom (What loophole allows Nintendo and Sony to participate in our countries' affairs?), things are looking grim for our favorite sites...

It's going to be pretty difficult to boycott all these companies... I have Playstations, Nintendo consoles, my son's favorite show is on Disney, and we shop at Walmart once a week (or more)... I personally will not put any more money into these companies until some decisions are made...

uh huh...

Also, in case you didn't think NDAA was scary enough:

The US can send you into the hands of another country

Imagine how much money the underground slave market could make from a steady stream of fresh Americans. Think 'Hostel' and 'Taken'...

Just saying, there's a fair amount of corruption in every country in the world, and no one is gonna give a fuck about taking care of another countries' citizens. Might as well make a profit off of them.

I actually had to make my way out of the wood work to post on this. First, I personally do not understand how one group. mainly the MPAA and other copyright agencies have so much sway over the United States government. Seriously do they have a picture of every congress person having sex with a goat or something.....wait nevermind, I dont want to know. This is only going to to get worse, and worse and it is just the first step in government censorship. Yes, you heard me, we weep for the people of China and India when it comes to internet censorship but we as citizens of North America are now opening ourselves up to the same treatment.

Eventually we will have to go where the governement allows us to go, looking at governement authorized porn, cause lets face it, our economies would collapse under the stress of not being able to wack-off because our wives no longer want to touch us sexually anymore. There will be panic and looting in the streets. PANDAMONIUM PEOPLE

I think this is a childish game. They need to stop hiding behind their terms like: democrat, republican, communist, capitalism, etc.

I also think that this appears to be just one fucked up problem; but this ball of ignorance, that these shady figures are building, is going to weave a horrible fate onto this world with their obsessive power and lust for feeding their voids [that are never satisfied]. Not only will it severely limit freedom of speech, threaten 95% of the internet, waste more prison space with people who were punished over completely benign reasons -- only to be deemed a serious violation -- when there are blatantly real criminals out there who actually pose a serious threat. These monsters who are using us as puppets for their monopoly games, is going to heighten unlawful acts. People are going to resort to terrible violence, and a hellfire of boundless proportions..

These monsters are prisoners to the monsters in their mind, and we are prisoners to them.

They are consciously trying to put a leash on all of us, but in the process, they are also taking off the leash of our negative side. People won't be able to contain themselves, and this negative side will anhilate their positive side.

They are going to unleash hellfire if this ever passes. I assure you. Our emotions are not to be played with. People will be more tense. People will be easily set off. This world will become a an imprisonment of anger, ignorance, fear, lust, etc.

DO NOT LET THIS PASS. 80% of what I've said may not make sense to you, but heed my word. The human is both the warrior and the monster.. and if anything were to provoke this negative side of them.. all hell /will/ break lose; literally.

You do not make examples, you make excuses; you do not solve problems, you shift problems; you do not stand behind your statements, you stand behind your stasis.

So from what im seeing....everyone is support is some big company, conservative Christians, and a bunch of companies that have absolutely no correlation at all with the internet (chemicals? auto repair? really?). Those companies are probably just there because they want to feel special.

Meanwhile in support are people that make a living off the internet and are, at this point, the backbone of modern society? There are an equal amount of senators and representative for and against, though im sure thats not the actual number.....I was surprised to see Barbra boxer for such a thing.

A bunch of out of touch white guys is all our government is at this point.

I'm just a dreamer.

This time last year, it was all about "net neutrality". The majority was in favor of giving the government regulatory power over the internet. Now SOPA comes around, and people are now realizing what happens when you give the government such power. As a libertarian, I foresaw all of this.

But yeah, if corporations that aren't even based in America have their foot in the door, so they can claim copyright lawsuit money, we have a problem.

I don't even know how the hell it even made it this far, it shouldn't have even been given a second glance, with how much American internet laws would, affect other countries.
Why should I, living in Canada, be negatively affected by a bill passed in America?
The internet shouldn't belong to any one nation, considering how it's a global affair, with it's own "economy", so to speak.
So much of the internet is based in america, so if this bill passes, then the US government is basically making a global decision on it's own.
...That doesn't sound quite right, hey?

As an American, I lose faith in American Congress, and also the faith in Americans as a whole, when I see something like SOPA come around. Seeing that someone, not just one person, but hundreds of people whose hands hold the fate of American Internet, and the millions of people in big corporations and miscellaneous constituent classes, want to take the side that will rip away nearly, if not thoroughly, every major and minor bit of what goes up on the internet from the U.S., it just makes me feel like there's nothing left in humanity besides selfish greed and lust for power. I feel that, against an army of idiots, I'm just a weapon-stripped recruit that is the only one who knows what's good. What good can I do?

Then I see the posts from, not just Americans, who are the most obvious of defenders, but people from other countries, across the ocean, even all the way on the other side of the Earth, trying to offer their support in what is turning into some kind of an international resistance against the lack of common sense that American Congress seems to prove time and again that they have in gluttonous surplus. People who want to extend their aid against something that they know is wrong, and do everything they can to stop it. People who, through personal stake, or just from sense of justice, genuinely want this idiotic bill not to pass... It just makes me want to join up as well.

Count me in.

If the bill passes, it'll be swiftly removed.

Not without doing a load of damage to sites like NG or YT, though. It will be removed only after the trail of destruction it created.

Assuming it passes.

Gotta admit, I fucking hate this shit.

The internet is widely used by almost every human being on this planet.

Passing this bill will go away with alot of jobs that require the internet for advertising, taking away those advertisements will be hard on the businessmen that put it out for their companies.

US is already in a shithole, their about to build themselves a bigger hole if they pass this. SOPA is the most utterly dumbest act i've ever seen in my life.

Gawd. I hate my NG username.
