I wouldn't even bother with a leaving message since chances are I'd only return. I'm not sure when I'll even quit the site anyway so I'll just come here less and less when I don't have as much free time on my hands.
I don't think anyone will care that much about anyone's farewell message, plus, it's not really allowed either. I wouldn't do anything.

You have actually a good point, I was never a person that seeks for attention, so leaving silently would indeed fit more to me, and since I am fairly unknown, it doesn´t even make a difference.

I would not make a post myself, as I have kind of left before a few times when I stopped coming on and posting for a few months but came back each time.
