"It is an actual ocarina and unfortunately that's all I'm capable of playing"
Well then his recording skills are truly remarkable as i couldn't hear any breathing noises.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!
i got home after school and this was an extremely nice surprise, especially because i was under the impression that only songs posted within that week could get top 5.

Ill accept that.

You'll have to.
Man, I thought I had a shot this week D: My 8-bit song was at 4.70ish until late monday when it got downvoted into oblivion. Regardless it got 600+ listens last week.
What are the requirements for weekly top 5 anyway? I can't believe the ocarina song made it up there.
P.s. Enjoyed the DnBs this week.

No. 1 isn't that great... at all, how did it get there?
I liked No. 3 though.
This is a signature.
I already reviewed the tracks but I'll share a quick summary
#1
I just don't want to think that this is a midi rip, there are some mistakes at the drums and the track is pretty much the same melody again.
#2
It was ok , nothing special or something to make it stand out of these kind of songs but i know that he spend some time making this and he made something good comparing it to other uncreative stuff.
#3
I think this is the best of the top 5 , really nice composition. This guy managed managed to distribute all the melodies on his track without making it repetitive. I also like the piano , somehow it always fits in everything and adds a really nice ambience. I just think he could make some variations on the drums but i like it the way it is.
#4
Seriously if i hear another "vengeance dubstep preset" song im gonna go on a rampage. I kindly told the guy that he could spend some time learning how to make his own patches to make their music more original and fun to make, but he went really hostile on me but oh well. I liked the intro of the track, sets up the mood really good but the rest of the track kinda sounds pretty much the same.
#5
This track was really repetitive because of the same melody he used over and over again. I know that melody is the whole point of his track as he mentioned in his description, but i think he could make some variations to it or changing atleast the instrument or add some harmony with another synth. I really liked the string break though , it really revived the track but the rest was pretty much "something to fill" the track.

It's not all that often that we get old school hip hop beats in the Top 5. This was actually really refreshing. It was a little repetitive, but I guess most rap beats are. Definitely one of the better songs to be featured in the Top 5. Maybe it's just me, but did the kick drum sound a little off-beat to anyone else, especially at the end of the track?

The vocals, especially those at the start of the track, seemed way too far forward in the mix compared to the backing music. Other than that, I can't honestly say I like the track because I personally don't like the style of the original track, or xKore... :\

Interesting and refreshing. It's actually quite nice, if a little 'safe' when it comes to the chord progression. I also wish it was longer and more developed, maybe with a bit of variation or dynamic range. But other than that, it's better than most of the usual Top 5 droll.

Maybe it's just me, but when the original melody kicks in, it sounds an awful lot like a midi rip. Other than that, it's a little repetitive in my opinion.

Some very nice guitar playing in there. Not really original, and not really a polished track, but it's nice to see some more rock & metal in the Top 5 :)
Overall, not a bad Top 5 this week. I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised.

Kinda bland and predictable. It felt too dub-y for techno, and too weak for dubstep.
#2

Not necessary bad, per se, but it was so slow that it almost put me to sleep. It kept feeling like it was going to lead up to a break, or some dirty dnb... something - anything! - that would give the track a little vitality. There was very little in the way of a memorable theme and, at the end of the day, if I can't whistle the main theme of a piece of music, it's not one that's going to stick with me.

Nice to see some jazz in the Top 5, even if it is watered down so as to appeal to modern audiences.
#4

A lot of the synths sounded like defaults or presets, but I didn't find the track to be that bad considering I don't even like techno.

This one just felt all over the place. The underlying synth was cool but a little loud for my mixing tastes. It sounded like Harry Gregson Williams' Metal Gear Solid soundtracks, or perhaps Kaveh Cohen and Michael Nielsen's work on Splinter Cell: Conviction. Overall, though, the different lines just felt 'off' - and this is just my personal opinion, but to me, none of the sections really felt like they were playing in time with each other. Other than that, my complaint is exactly what one reviewer stated: it sounds almost exactly like Zimmer, Badelt, or Jablonsky. In other words, Mr Satera shows an understanding of how to utilize and blend electro and orchestral elements, but he doesn't do anything interesting or unique with it.
Success! My weekly picks are actually helping!
Go team!

It's an okay song, some dissonance that didn't really fit there occasionally. Nice industrial touch with the clanky metal noise

20% groovy parts and 80% is the break between. It's a nice chilled groove but far too drawn out. And the noise just sounded like crap, needs some low pass filter to sound like pleasant vinyl noise

haha "watered down so as to appeal to modern audiences"? It's just a simple song man. The only reason I put it in jazz in the first place was to try and match the flash usage of this

As for me grabbing a top5...
Is good to see some conversations regarding the top 5.

Thanks LaForge and SBB! I had no idea I was in the top 50 until i read this thread. It was a nice shock hehe. I appreciate where you're coming from RampantMusik and I really appreciate your crits. I know I can't appeal to everyone, but i know where you're coming from. So thanks very much, it's great to get constructive feedback. :)
I liked the Incident:010 A song, but as said, it was a bit repetitive for me, i would have liked to hear something vary it up in the middle or give it a bit of variation. The dynamics used at the end could have been easily put in the middle, and would have worked well.
I didnt mind this piece at all, i could see it used fittingly, however the record sound just didnt work for me. Still good though.
I really like this, it's groovy, relaxing and it's full of talent. if anything SBB could have kept my attention for easily a few minutes more with what he did here.
I dunno about this one. It feels like the choice in sounds could do with more attention. Also it sounds like everything is fed equally to me on the left as it is on the right. It's a good track, i wish it had something a little more rememorable in it.
Shouldnt be there IMO - but it was nice to see and i am greatful. :)

Glad to help - re-reading my post, I'm worried that it may have sounded a little condescending. I didn't intend for it to come off like that; but really all I want is to help people improve as much as I can :)

Haha, yeah. On first read I was like. Awww. *sad face. But then after a few re-reads I decided to take it with a pinch of salt and that I can see where you were coming from. :)
