I went to school in the south before they started air conditioning schools, so everytime I had to write my hand would get stuck to the paper. Worse, once you got a little sweat droplet on the paper, your pencil wouldn't be able to leave a mark, so you'd have all these blank spots in your work.
I also remember when you had to hand copy articles out of an encyclopedia to get your reports turned in, instead of just copy/pasting them off the interent.

I normally never heard anybody say something like that because it sounds like it would only come up if you were complaining about something trivial (aka the as the you don't know how good you have it response). I didn't get the "walked 15 miles in the snow uphill both ways" lecture at any point, at least not seriously... but I did hear quite a bit about how miserable it was for my dad when he went to Catholic parochial school. Actually my Dad (who is as old as dinosaurs... seriously) always says "Well back in my day... blah blah blah" Its usually about how kids would walk to school from like 1 whole mile away... Then hes always going on how I should walk to school, but also take the bus???? He confuses me.
