This is the first song I've completed in Logic Pro X, which I'm finding is an AWESOME program for making music. The GarageBand days are finally over... Lately I've really been getting into mixing electronic, orchestral, and cinematic sounds in my music. I hope you like it.

HOLY S***! This sounds exactly like the soundtrack for portal!!!!

HelpThePoor responds:

I love the Portal games, and the music! That's a good compliment. Thanks.

I feel like this track has great potential, in terms of melody. You have a solid sense of progression in here; I feel the only thing it could use is some more powerful instrumentation. If this track had full orchestral instruments and perhaps some rock guitar, it could be something truly phenomenal.

With that said, I like very much what you've done here. Keep up the good work!

HelpThePoor responds:

I completely agree with you. I'll probably redo this song and I will try to add full orchestral instruments as you suggest. I don't have good gear right now for recording guitar tracks, and I've been having trouble trying to get a good rock guitar sound with the virtual instruments in Logic, but I would love to be able to add guitar to it as well. Thanks for listening and for your helpful advice! :)

Don't like the instrumentation so much - it's a little bit inexpressive for something orchestral, but the score is beautiful. You have as always really nice harmonies and melodies. I like the key change at 2:45 which gives a new breath to the song. Good work!

HelpThePoor responds:

Yep, I have basically no experience yet putting together a traditional orchestral score, so I'm still just experimenting and learning slowly at this point. But I'm glad you like my music. I was pretty happy with how this one turned out. I'm still working on making music for my games, but this one was an indulgence on just making something for no particular reason. Thanks. :)

sounds like a good song for a 2d scroller game based on finding things in a spooky/haunted/apocalyptic environment :)

HelpThePoor responds:

That sounds like a game I would like to play. :)
