As always - awesome performance!
For Round 2 of the NGADM. :)
I originally was attempting an industrial-sounding piece for this round but after spending a lot of time on that I decided it wasn’t working out. So I tried something else. And then something else. And something else. None of those projects were setting right, so on the last day I started yet again on a new project in Cubase. I had come up with this arpeggiated chord progression on GarageBand on my phone on my break at work a few days earlier and really liked it. So with about 11 hours before the deadline it evolved into this.
I titled this “The Greatest Challenge” for several reasons. Life throws us all many challenges, some more difficult than others. But despite all of that we must find a way to keep going, to make it through each challenging experience. Music has almost always been something that has helped me through my own personal challenges. And yet now it is ironic that one of the challenges I regularly face is to make music that can somehow portray emotions in an engaging way to the listener.
The last few months I felt like giving up on making music because it had become so frustrating lately to try and make something that I felt was worth listening to, but the NGADM came around and I’ve always wanted to try it since I first found out about it like 3 years ago. So I entered this time finally. I didn’t expect to make it past round 1 but here I am. And it has been a great experience and actually has revived my love for creating music.
Another reason why I titled it this is just because it was so dang difficult to mix this song lol. I’m not super excited about the end result but I am somewhat happy with it considering the limited time I spent on it. Anyway this has been a great experience so far, and I’m really thankful that Newgrounds hosts awesome competitions such as this.
Thanks for listening! (and for reading my rambling lol) :)
