Full Title: For The Ones Who Remain True

You know those people who stick by you, through thick and thin, hell and high water, while all the world is slowly falling apart around you? Yeah, this one is for them. Let's hope that we always do right by the ones who truly matter in this life...

Dedicated to all my friends and family, but especially to Shannon Michele, who ultimately inspired this piece of music. Thanks for being you.

Great job, ChronoNomad. Pull that piano out of the mix a little bit - put it right in the center where it belongs (when the strings come in, the piano is hidden behind them a little, see 2:22), and fix the velocities on the notes, it sounds very mechanical right now. And replace those drums with something that sounds better - use some reference tracks if you're not sure exactly what would fit. Free drum packs are EVERYWHERE online, so you have no excuse >:)

This song has everything that I like. It's got acoustic guitar. It's got piano. It's got descending baselines and modulations. It's got great melodies. It's even got different sections and horns. You fix those 2.5 issues I mentioned and this is the BEST TRACK EVER.

ChronoNomad responds:

I hardly enough know what to say. You're a hard fella to impress, so I'm admittedly a bit speechless... Fortunately, I can still type a little. Shifting the piano to the center is easy peasy, and I don't want it to be overshadowed by anything else, so good call. I'll have to think about what to do with the velocities since they're already exceedingly variable. I suppose they could use a bit of tweaking here and there, though I guess it just doesn't jump out at me as much in most places. As for the drums, I suppose the hats could be improved a bit, but I'm quite fond of the kick. The sidestick is absolutely vital; nothing else sounds as good in its place. My only complaint with the drum kit itself (DSK DrumZ - MachineZ) is that the note strength doesn't change with velocity adjustments for some reason. Rather odd, that.

Everything that you like, eh? That's it! Now I know the secret formula! Acoustic guitar, piano, descending bass lines and modulations...CHECK! I feel quite honored to receive almost full marks from you, and I'll see what can be done with those 2.5 issues you've mentioned. Thanks a ton for the in-depth review, my friend! Much appreciated. ^___^

It has a happiness theme. Also I sense some harmony. It would look great on a Romance Theme animation. Good Work!

ChronoNomad responds:

Thanks for dropping that review like it's hot, hiperpot001! Happiness, indeed. And there is lots of happiness to be had, but it's always such an elusive little thing. Never quite there when you're trying to find it, but it loves to seek us out when we least expect it. You're right! This would make a very nice theme in a Romance animation. Maybe some talented animator will jump on it, eh? Would be cool. :D

Ah! I made a similarly themed song less than a week ago :D
This is better however; the guitar and the piano work amazingly together, and the percussion is good too (along with strings, etc). What I'm trying to say is that the mix and the dynamics are great :p

the melodies are sweet, along with the chords. This piece doesn't come with much of the unexpected, but I think it's good just that way. There is no time for this to get boring either, as you have several different parts going on, and not just a main melody.

Because of the theme, it reminds me of Clannad.
Great job ;)

ChronoNomad responds:

This one has been in the works for a while, so I'm happy that I finally had a chance to finish it up and present it to the one who has remained the truest. People come and go in our lives, and I've seen an absolute ton of that over the years, but the ones who remain...ah! Such special, irreplaceable hearts. Incidentally, I totally gave "A Song For Someone Else" an ear back when you submitted it, voted 5, and instantly added it to my Favorites! Just thought you might like to know. ^___^

You're so wonderfully complimentary on this song, it warms my heart. I originally had the Iowa Piano VST in there, but after seeing your comments about using Piano One in your own compositions, I decided to download that and bench the Iowa. So thanks! I had actually tried installing Piano One before, but apparently there was a bug in the file since all it ever did was crash. Even found myself a better guitar VST before finalizing it, and the overall sound is simply richer for having done so.

I think it's pretty cool that we've been on some kind of trippy Clannad-esque wavelength lately. Just like Phyrnna said, your piece reminded me instantly of...of....OH THE FEELS! WHY?! D':

...Okay, I'm back. Had to listen to a few minutes of Dango Daikazoku to calm myself down. (; But yeah, such Clannad. So Nagisa. Wow. Much feels. You get what I'm saying.

All that aside, I'm happy that you like this. It's simple and uncomplicated, as you've said - not much of the unexpected, except for maybe the end - but it's just such a pleasant listen, I think. Many thanks again for listening, leaving such a lovely review, and all those pretty stars! Right nice of you.
