I planned a while ago to record an E.P. of re-done old songs. It never went far but this is one of the tracks. It's trance and metal in harmony creating something of an emotional epic. I had to destroy the quality as usual in order to fit it onto here, but it's still listenable.

I do plan to do vocals for it one day, but if anyone wants to take a shot at it, they're welcome to. It follows quite a simple Verse/Bridge/Chorus structure for the first 2 and a half minutes.

So anyway, tell me what you think, I'm interested to here about this one.

UPDATE: 06/02/10 (Yeah, I'm English so it's d/m/y): Re-recorded guitars and bass. Modified some of the riffs slightly.

Once again, quality is raped so you can download a sexy 256kbs version at http://www.mediafire.com/

Oh and check me out on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/Re turningWeHearLarks

UPDATE: 27/02/10: Album is nearly done, shall be updating this with vocals (hopefully) tomorrow. Watch the new video blog about this song and the new album here: http://www.youtube.com/wa tch?v=6BPWFyc3_D8

UPDATE: 28/02/10: Vocals added. Album is nearly done, I'll post a download link here when it is (which should be Tuesday).

Did the world turn on its head while I was sleeping?
You held me up so high
All those opportunities, suddenly the last one's leaving

So many promises, you gave the world to me
You told me I was yours, why couldn't I see?
So many promises, you threw them back at me
How could you ruin us? Now you mean nothing to me

I gave it all to you, you promised me the sky, then tore it all away
How much was a lie?
I gave it all for you, I left my friends to die
You ruined me and now I'm left behind

Almost a year now, since I saw your smile
You lost me in your eyes, I can't believe that you're gone
You'll never be the one

How could you take my life and leave it all as ash?
This cycle won't end, my end by broken glass
Broken glass

The way you recorded the guitar sounds like its mostly just the bass end. If you turn up the mid and treble it should get a thicker and crunchier and... more brutal distortion. Anyways, incredibly well composed song you got here. Id have liked a little more metal and a little less synth but i guess thats just me?

Thanks for the review, I shall take your advice there. I've got myself a lovely new set-up since recording this, so my tone and overall sound is nicer now.
If you'd prefer more metal then check out my other stuff, this is one of my only fusion songs! XD

I loved all of it. The drums, instrumentals, solos, it was all great! Too often I find myself looking for heavy metal and what I find is some horrible screamo... But this was what I was looking for.

It was a little strange hearing a couple spots of synth thrown into the whole thing, but other than that it was pretty epic.

Thank-you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah this is an old song of mine which I recently re-recorded. I used to experiment with trance/metal fusion, and still do sometimes, but I tend to leave it alone these days!
