track 7 of 10 from Theotria
the story of ocean pollution from the perspective of the fishies and other marine life.
shoutout to my friend, who goes by Nounbrain, who helped me greatly with writing the lyrics for this one! (they're not on NG)

lyrics:
plagued the oceans
with cigarette butts,
eternal choking risks and slaughter nets
exacerbating
infinite wastebin
hell to forgiving things we can’t forget
hunt and gather
mind not our matters
a brand new scale fitting we’d survive
our brightest daughters
across the waters
erecting towers that could reach the sky
(towers that could reach the sky)
riverbanks like miniature seas
hold our breath, like humans do
they are blithe to how they disease
they are blind and they are new
it grew up like it’s a child
then it spelled like wizardry
till the whole planet was garbage
poor fish, in the sea.
heat is rising
white towers falling
heavy tsunami’s devastating blow
pyro-water
dorsals on fire
a carcass of a Cetus lies below
(Cetus carcass lies below)
schoolyards, wrapped up in saran
shallow folk, all begin to pop
once a home, and now a jail cell
ring a round, as we all drop
belly up but we’re still smiling
bleeding out, like marker art
make the best of how we perish
do we swim, in your heart?
as tectonic plates are shattered
obsidian shoots through the seams
it grew legs and killed your mother
just like you we cannot breathe
wise enough, to see it coming
not cute enough, to get mercy
we built up, styrofoam towers
that no one will see
music nerd stuff:
the idea for this song was born when i was playing around with these little styrofoam pieces that were making a bunch of cool noises, so i recorded all of that and sampled it heavily. all of the percussion (except of the claps after the first chorus) and the bassline have been made using exclusively styrofoam sounds.
quite proud of the vocal production on this one too, this was the first time i actually focused on ear candy in vocals. mostly because this song has one of the simplest instrumentals on the album
the song felt quite bland in a 4/4 time signature so i went with 7/8 instead.
and here's a fun fact, this was the last song from the album to be finished because the lyrics took just so long to write lol
