music nerd stuff:
oh boi there's a lot to unpack here.
section A:
this is the transition between the impending trilogy and this song. not much to say here, other than the fact that this was by far the easiest part of the song
section B:
this section prominently features the theotria motif (which we've already heard in the album's intro), growing more and intense as it goes, eventually reaching a climactic drop and transitioning into the next section
section C:
this section is actually based on an old 2020 demo of mine. a fast chaotic rock thingy in 5, except then it switches to a more electronic sound. the keyboard part has actually been referenced in the intro too
another notable thing, this part features a 19-person choir, except it's all just me, because i don't have a fraction of the budget for a choir lol
section D:
another section based on a different 2020 demo of mine. it starts with a microtonal transition into a groovy, sample-heavy beat. (note: all samples used in this album belong to me because i don't want to deal with copyright), halfway through, the beat switches to acoustic drums, foreshadowing the next section
section E:
this section is a medley of the motifs of all the songs in the album, performed in an energetic rock style. this part was written to be 100% possible to be played by an actual rock band of 4-5 people.
section F:
going out of the medley and into this little break, filled with synths, textures and samples once again, and prominently featuring a variation on the theotria motif. it also serves as a transition point in terms of energy, the next section is very calm, so i needed to gradually slow things down to get there, and also modulate to the right key
section G:
yet another section based on yet another 2020 demo. the beat for this one is taken directly from that old ditty. the synths here are notably detuned. i don't really remember exactly what tuning i used, it was some just intonated thing in a key that is quite far away from the key that this part is in, specifically do create some spice and dissonance.
section H:
and then we slowly build up to the explosive orchestral drum'n'bass climax of the entire album. one of the most difficult things i have ever written and my overall second attempt at writing an orchestral part (the first was the string section in overmultiplication). i've been afraid of touching the orchestra for the longest time, it's just intimidating as all hell. but i think that this part sounds pretty okay after a few iterations. it's subdivided into three parts, the first one, being essentially the drop, the second one, being more quiet and elaborate with layered melodies and the third one, which is more variations on the theotria motif. we end with a rich, colorful and dissonant chord, followed by a moment of silence
section I:
and then a calm breather, featuring the theotria motif one last time
