World Slavery
Lyrics + vocal arrangement : Sean Lang
Song composed and produced by : André C. Kalipke
André : Our most varied and experimental work. A few of the music parts are to be taken with a grain of salt. Consequently it's probably our only song that doesn't take itself seriously throughout.
Sean : This was partly the result of recording objects being hit and then playing them back at different speeds. André gave me the instrumental version in 7/92. It wasn't easy coming up with ideas for lyrics. It sounded like a mixture of something epic, foreign and turbulent. I decided on slavery and its aftermath as a concept and we recorded the track in 8/92.

WORLD SLAVERY
Was a long way to this place
I long again to see the face
A simple man, but not a judge
Never need to hold a grudge
To this land was a long way
I long again to see the day
Never had to judge the other
Never once betrayed my brother
Trapped us in the net of our own enemies
Brought us from there for a penny a piece
To bring us across the waters to a land
And sell us to the farms as the helping hand
Landed in a new place
Let this from my mind erase
Lived in cities' grime while playing in urban crime
Never knew the score and I won't take it no more
Came from a long way and I long to see the day
Came to a new place - let this my mind erase
