Inside Emerson Castle

I didn’t think this picture was going to take so long, but Skyrim reentered my life, and it has been a little hard to put down.

However, with that said, I was able to finish this piece finally.

I wanted to expend the lore on Lumine Lightfoot some more, so I drew her interacting with a character mentioned in her bio.

This is Frederick Emerson, the King of Emerson.

I needed some more male practice, so Frederick is a large orange, muscular bull man.

As you can see, the background took a very long time to color, but I wanted to make sure to cover up as many white spots as I could.

Maybe I might have used a few warmer colors then I should, but I noticed that too many of my previous backgrounds used cool colors in the past.

But overall, I’m happy with the results.

Glad to see that I’m making backgrounds a bit more common, as well as getting more consistency with my designs.

Lumine’s Notes:

10,000 years, gone in an instant…

It’s still jarring to know that I am this far removed from my era.

And yet, I feel some sort of familiarity in this new place, and with King Emerson himself.

Frederick was the one that found me locked away in my pod, deep in the ruins of Eden’s Temple.

He took me into his personal quarters, which I’m sure got castle personnel talking…

But, he nursed me back to health with the help of some of his most trusted doctors.

As I got my strength back, Frederick filled me in with some of the history of Emerson.

From what I was told, this kingdom was build close to the crash site of Skycadia, which would explain why Emerson looks as advanced as it is.

“Magetech” is what this kingdom is best known for, as so much of their structures are very impressive.

Not to mention, this kingdom is one of the few places in Gaia that practices Light Magic.

When I was back on my feet, Frederick himself trained me in some of his Light Magic, most of it being rather defensive, but useful.

He was like a wall in our sparring sessions, as fast and aggressive my attacks were, they just didn’t seem to phase him.

When he thought I was ready, I was introduced into the Battle Mage Corps.

I was put on a team with two others, those being Duncan Napier and Tilly Osmont.

They are a little… dysfunctional if I may be blunt, but they are very kind and helped to answer any questions I had.

It took a few weeks for us to mesh together, but it was worth the growing pains.

One day, when out on a scouting mission, we got ambushed by some Blight monsters.

I’ll admit, I got cocky, I was so used to doing this in my era.

While I took one of the bigger monsters down, a smaller one managed to cut me.

Duncan and Tilly helped me back on my feet, and we vanquished the rest together with relative ease.

When we returned to Emerson Castle, Frederick saw my injury and was rather alarmed.

He picked me up and took me to my bedroom to immediately treat my wound.

I didn’t see it as such a big deal, but Frederick wanted me to stay in bed.

He noticed that I was pushing myself too hard, and “commanded me” to get some rest.

I argued against him, as I knew this wasn’t enough to take me down.

But he just looked at me, handed me a meal, and simply said, “I know you are struggling to get back in top condition, but please, give yourself a break.

You don’t have to prove yourself to me, I already see your shining potential.”

And with that, I simply just accepted defeat.

Something tells me that Frederick has dealt with some workaholics before, and I think taking his advice would be wise.

Not just for my sake, but out of respect for him.

Frederick went through all of this effort to make me “feel at home” despite living amongst strangers.

No surface dweller has ever gone that far out of their way to help me in my era.

I need to be grateful and take each day one step at a time.

The meal he gave me was delicious, a spicy chili bread bowl with some pear ale.

Frederick is probably the nicest man I have met in this new era of Gaia, and truly he is a king worthy of his crown.
