Rick the Panda (Mobian Design)

Share

Well, here we have another picture of Rick, and he is looking different once again.

I was talking with my friend Viv, and she made a sketch of her main sona into a Mobian just for fun.

And that got me thinking that it’d be a perfect excuse to practice my male anatomy just to not draw ladies all the time.

Now, I tried to make Rick look more like a normal Mobian with the noodle anatomy…

But I couldn’t do it, and it just looked too strange to me.

So, I just exaggerated his anatomy to make it look “Mobian enough”.

And honestly, doing that and mixing in my own style turned out better than I expected.

I’m debating if I want this to be Rick’s default look or not.

But I will say, this does make him easier to draw.

That and I might have an urge to draw Rick and Whisper doing something rather naughty in the future.

Sonic is my comfort series, so might as well intergrade Rick into it.

Bio:

Rick was born into a low income family living in the lower district of Monopole City; the famous city of the future.

Early life was difficult, Rick’s mother was a nurse, worked full shifts and rarely was home.

Rick’s father was a cop, he was overworked, underpaid, and hated his job.

Rick would often be left alone, his only solace was going to Megalo Academy, to interact with what few friends he had.

Knowing money was an issue in his household, Rick fell into a gang known as “The Cherry Bombers” in hopes of making quick cash.

He would at first commit petty crimes, but gradually as he got older, he’d partake in more dangerous and violent crimes.

He kept this a secret from his parents, and eventually made enough money to move in with some of his gang friends.

At the age of 16, The Cherry Bombers and Rick would score a handful of military grade cybernetics and cyberware.

They were supposed to sell them off to some rival corporate broker and get a cut of the deal.

However, this was a set-up from the start, as the police would bust the Cherry Bombers.

Rick’s father was the one to arrest his son, and was in utter disbelief to see him like this.

Rick was disowned by both his father and mother, and was left to rot and stew in his own misery.

While in jail for a few months, a shady Mobian businessman would mysteriously bail Rick out on a whim.

His name was Wei Shen and was a part of a new start-up company called “MeteorTech”.

He offered Rick a very special job opening called “The Helios Project”.

Rick would be paid to test out different and highly experimental cybernetics and cyberware.

In exchange, Rick would be able to keep the tech he liked, and be given full living accommodations on MeteorTech grounds.

Penniless and with nothing left to lose, Rick took the job.

The first few years, it was rather smooth sailing, as Rick’s body was upgraded with amazing cyberware that enhanced his body beyond his wildest dreams.

And the pay was great too.

It allowed him to relax in the lap of luxury after long hard days at the testing site.

During the many test results, it was noticed by MeteorTech higher-ups that Rick’s body has an extremely high tolerance to the cyberware on his body.

They came to an agreement that Rick would be the perfect candidate for the Helios Program itself.

Rick would be led into the Inner Chamber by Wei Shen, where surgery would begin almost immediately.

His body would undergo a Full-Body Augmentation, packed with the highest state-of-the-art cybernetic and cyberware.

With implants of nanomachines, synthetic skin, reinforced steel endoskeletal system, and ultra flexible carbon steel cable muscles.

And the Helios Unit itself, grafted to Rick’s new cybernetic brain, heart, and organs.

This will allow Rick’s body to repair itself from injury, and have his cyberware to upgrade itself automatically.

The process would take 5 years, but when it was finished Rick would be in the minds of MeteorTech “The perfect cyborg”.

While thrilled with the new powers, Rick wasn’t thrilled at all to know he lost 5 years of his life.

Conveniently, Rick was only told he’d be “offline” for 5 months.

Rightfully pissed off, Rick was about to swing at Wei Shen.

Then, the Helios Unit activated and hijacked Rick’s body.

His body, mind, and soul belonged to the corporation.

He would be MeteorTech’s puppet for the next several months.

He did their dirty work, taking out corporate rivals, clearing out gangs, and rounding up employees that tried to escape.

All while technically aware of what he was doing, yet not in control.

It was the worst kind of living nightmare, being held hostage in your own body.

In secret, Rick was slowly finding ways to break the programming of the Helios Unit, thanks to some MeteorTech whistleblowers that sided with him.

Rick would agree to help them escape from Monopole City itself, if he was able to regain full control of his body.

During one average training session, it happened.

After many failed attempts and brute force hacking sessions, the control of the Helios Unit was finally destroyed and Rick was back in command.

Rick started by murdering Wei Shen with burning hot rage, and proceeded to level the entire Helios Chamber in a flaming inferno as the engineers made their escape.

They all boarded a cargo ship and managed to escape Monopole City with minimum injury.

On the boat ride to Station Square, Rick was informed that MeteorTech’s owner was Doctor Ivo Robotnik; The Eggman.

It was a shell company, only being used for harvesting data, collecting research, and stealing Monopole tech all for himself.

With a clear goal in mind, Rick would continue to go back and forth to Monopole City, to rescue those who wished to escape.

On the side, he works as a mercenary, willing to destroy any Eggman based tech for the right price; but mostly, just any excuse to smash up some Egg Pawns.

With all the information he has gathered from the whistleblowers, Rick intends to use this document to expose the corruption in Monopole City and watch it all burn from the inside out.

And eventually, scrambling Eggman’s head across a wall.

Personality:

Rick is a bit of a strong and Stoic man.

He likes to lie low and not draw too much unwanted attention to himself.

He can come off as a hard ass, and isn’t much for idle chit-chat.

At his worst, Rick’s cynicism can come out, making him speak his mind more freely and bluntly to the dismay of others.

But deep down, Rick always wants to do the right thing, even if it doesn’t show on his face.

When on the job, Rick is known to go solo only, not wanting to risk others’ lives with the dangerous missions he undertakes.

This comes off as reckless to most, but thanks to Rick’s cyberware, he is usually fine against most weaponry.

He has been known to run straight into danger just to save someone.

And with how advanced Monopole tech is, lesser folk will be mulched in a heartbeat; so every second counts for Rick.

On the rare occasion when Rick allows himself to take breaks, he likes to relax on the beaches of Emerald Coast.

It’s a nice way for him to disconnect from the world and relieve stress.

Usually he’ll listen to synthwave music and grab a quick nap in a hammock.

He even surfs from time to time and enjoys going fishing with a rather large cat Mobian friend he made a year ago.

Powers:

Being a cyborg, Rick’s physical prowess are far beyond the levels of any normal Mobians or even Humans.

But the main use of Rick’s powers comes through his thermal energy produced by his Helios Unit.

It can generate absurd amounts of heat that Rick can fire directly out of his hands.

It normally forms the shape of flames when they are expelled from his body.

For Rick’s method of attacks, he mixes in his boxing stance with his flurry of punches.

This ironically shoots out the red-hot plasma out faster than by expelling it out of his palms.

For a more concentrated blast, Rick can use the canons embedded in his forearms to let out a devastating eruption of superheated plasma upon his enemies.

He can also use quick bursts of heat underneath his feet in order to close distance quickly, and to generally make him move faster.

It can even make him go airborne and bounce himself in any direction if he angles himself correctly.

In desperate situations, Rick can enter his overclocked state.

In overclocked mode, Rick’s adrenaline spikes and his flames turn from a yellow-orange to a bright blue.

These flames are devastating and have a tendency to incinerate anything they touch.

However, the main downside of this state is overheating.

The Helios Unit does a fantastic job of keeping Rick from hurting himself internally, but it can only take so much stress.

If Rick overclockes himself and stays in that state for too long, he can inflict major internal damage.

If he takes too much damage, it can disable some of his cyberware, forcing him to wait for his body to cool down and repair itself.

However, thankfully for Rick, the Helios Unit will forcefully disable overclock and immediately injects him with chilled coolant blood.

This only happens if Rick's internal temperatures exceed 100,000 degrees Fahrenheit (55,538 Celsius) or higher.
