Bound by the Blood (Vivian)

Share

It's been a little while since I've last drawn my vampire bunny, Vivian Valentine.

So I figured it'd be a good time to revisit her.

This time I wanted to show off Vivian using her powers, as her debut piece she was just holding a red diamond that alluded to nothing.

Now, we see Vivian manifesting blood hands out of the red lining of her cape.

I looked up quite a bit of reference of Carnage in order to see how to make these bloody hands.

As well as Dead Man Wonderland, as that manga had some good blood effect based off of blood powers.

Also, I have been watching some Castlevania speedruns, so I wanted to capture that feeling of "yeah, a vampire could do that".

I'm happy with the way this anatomy looks, definitely slowly improving, and I just like the smaller revisions I made to Vivian overall.

Hopefully, I'll be able to do the same thing with the other members of the Hellion cast.

Vivian’s notes:

With my mastery of Hemomancy over the past 2 millennia, I’ve learned just how devastating my powers could be when I used them against the Whitefang tribe when I returned to Castle Drauggutis.

At first, I thought that the Bloodstone had absurdly boosted my powers, and while that was true, it wasn’t the only thing it did.

The most common new ability that manifested was these bloody hand constructs.

They appear from my back and keep me protected from harm.

Now, I could summon something like this beforehand, but I only used it if the conditions were ripe.

If I used this power with my own blood, it's incredibly dangerous and could put me in major risk of a fatal blow.

However, if the battleground was drenched in blood, I could use said fallen blood to attach these hands to my back.

But, with the Bloodstone granting me infinite blood, this is no longer an issue; letting me abuse this new power.

And abused it I did.

Once I reclaimed Drauggutis Castle as my own, the hands reacted strongly to Vlad’s cape for some reason.

While it was in tatters, I was able to cut off just enough to make it useable in my Queen of Diamonds outfit.

I would have preferred a proper long cloak, but a half cape was the best I could do with Muriel’s help.

Whenever I’d summon the bloody hands now, they form from the inner red lined side of my cape.

I’m going to assume that Vlad could do something similar to this when he was still alive.

Which puzzled me, I could never get a grasp on just what Vlad’s dominate Vampiric powers were.

He just seemed to be a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

But, either way, I’m thankful for his vast awry of skills, because I feel like his cape as protected me more time than I care to mention.

Heh, how barbaric, I can kill people by just controlling the blood in their bodies to contort them into horrific poses.

Not to mention, shaping my blood into literal sharp weapons.

And what do I fall back on?

Gigantic bloody fists that I use to pulverize anything in my way.

I hate that Paige says I go “unga bunga” when I pull out “deez handz” but she isn’t exactly wrong either.

Really digging the striking color here. Looks crisp and clean!

Thanks man, glad you like it.
I wanted to try out some effects drawing, and I think the blood hands turned out nicely.
