Was that it? Melinda gazed at the sign and the box in her hand. The outside seemed real; the sign seemed real; Esther seemed real; and the box seemed real.
And that's just what was so unreal about the whole thing. After all the frustration, traps, and tears it seems so unreal. They came to steal Cylla's treasure what seemed weeks ago; as any normal adventuring party would. Now it was in her hands. They were short one member, but the treasure they wanted was in her hands.
What also seemed unreal was how calmly she was taking it. After all they had been through, she knew she should have been suspicious of absolutely anything. But something in her told her it was really done. At least, as far as escape was concerned.
"Wow! We really did it!" Esther cheered ecstatically.
"Yup." Replied Melinda.
"That was so fun! We should go again sometime!"
"Maybe another time." Melinda noticed how quickly Esther forgot about Roland. Oh well, that was just Esther, and she was just her. But now... what was this?
Melinda glowered at the box before her. "Right, let's get this last bit over with."
"Whaddaya mean?"
"Let's open this stupid thing and see what last trick this witch has for us."
"You think it's another trap?"
"Maybe, maybe not. But after all we've been through, this isn't something as simple as gold and jewels. May as well get the disappointment out of the way now." Melinda sighed as she placed down the container, and proceeded to unlatch the lid.
