Reviews for "Aetherpunk 1.1"

Sorry to break it to you but...

The menu still doesn't work. :( sorry, the game looks awesome, but i rated it a 6 (because that is about the average of 1 and 10, or 5.5). And also, there are already a bunch more states of matter (even if we assume that the matter is composed of atoms), though i guess in 1904 they didnt know that.

SpaceCatStudios responds:

Darn! I'm on it! I'll try to fix it again, sorry about that!

Decent, but a Few Nitpicks

This game was overall a decent time killer, but had a lot of nagging issues that made me quit eventually. It has potential, but the end-game weapons come too soon and there's just so many small things that ruin it.
-The Guns: I really wish you would of done more with the elements/damage types. There was potential for requiring multiple weapons to hit weaknesses of game-ending enemies. The gun selection between choosing pistols or long guns was good, but still fell victim to the typical gun layout in each section(The starter, the sniper, the AoE, the machine gun, the laz0r/minigun). The second pistol & long gun are both game breakers and can be obtained early(the coil pistol mostly) and deal great damage to any enemy. That coupled with the easy to get auto-reload and you have a round 4 end-game weapon. It is also very easy to get the aetheric weapons. The pistol easily overshadows the long gun as well downing the tanking enemies in seconds even late game.

-The Defenses: They seemed rather useless beyond the barricades. The impaler was the most useful weapon despite it being the second cheapest. Even then it was obsolete eventually as the enemies quickly toughened up. The barricades were nicely balanced as they held the enemy back just long enough to cover a separate entrance.

The Enemies: Not much complaints here since they all seem to do what they're supposed to. Only real thing buying the Flachette Rifle or the Coil Pistol allows for early overkills netting a lot of extra beginning aether. The Swarmlords end up just being pathetic aether farms by spraying your aetheric weapon at it instantly killing(and overkilling) all the instantly respawning Swarmers.

-The Bugs: Only really saw two. The first being you can shoot out of walls if you're against them. The second being that enemies seem to be able to go through walls if their pathfinding goes just right. I've seen it with Mad Bombers(before attacking a barricade) and Chargers(..before attacking a barricade)

-The Small Nitpicks: Spamming the Storm Pistol or leaving gore on late game caused my framerate to plummet. My PC is only 3 years old and I seldom have this issue with other flash games. Bumping my scroll wheel not only switches my weapons, but also jolts my screen up or down. Not sure how many others have these two same issues since it may just be some poor setup somewhere in my PCs software I overlooked..

There are still many issues with the game

I don't think removeing the Mochi coins was the best answere for the criticisms it got. While I didn't read every review I'm pretty sure most people's problem was not it's existance but that basic features were sold as bonus. So instead of removeing every bonus you'd better fix the main issueas with the basic game!
First you should make it possible to save your game and to continue after dieing! Then you could fix some minor issues that were mentioned like getting aether faster or lowering the prices, haveing more upgrades (like upgradeing your speed and your health), haveing better weapons etc.
And then I'm sure the people wouldn't complain if there were purchaseable bonus materials too.

So slow...

Basically what Andropinus said (5 reviews below me), and also:

Add customisable controls. Seriously, it's annoying as hell otherwise. I'm left-handed, and using WASD with my right hand is really annoying. If you don't believe me, try using IJKL as up/left/down/right, H as "repair barrier", and Y as reload, and use that with your left hand.

You might as well make the "repair barrier" action automatic. There aren't any penalties for repairing the barrier, if you just got a big rock and left it on the F key (or used a macro to keep F "pressed"), you wouldn't be any worse off.

Also, you should make the barrier repair faster, the longer it's been since anything has attacked it. So, if nothing has attacked it for 20 seconds, it should repair at AT LEAST double or triple the speed. Failing that, make the repair action work with a percentage of the barrier's max health, instead of "5 damage repaired per second", or whatever it is right now.

And the scroll wheel seems to scroll the actual page down, as well as the various menus, etc.

mehh

a ok game but it needs some kind of story line i did not encounter a menu bug the game worked fine for me

p.s. you should also make it co-op:)
