Reviews for "Aetherpunk 1.1"

Pretty good, but still some flaws in the gameplay.

Overall, it's a good game, with some interesting mechanics that help keep things interesting. However, there's still some things that are broken. For example, getting one-shotted by the mad bombers or the skirmishers - I found myself with roughly 90% of my HP, suddenly getting one-shotted by the a skirmisher around wave 16-18.

Healing is wonky - it stutters, stops, and doesn't really work properly. The tier 1 healing skill only actually heals you if you wait, then tap an arrow key to move. The tier 2 healing skill that lets you regenerate all the time works up until your health is about 90% full, and then it stops.

The tier 4 (hellburner) turret is absolutely useless; it does no more damage per hit than the tier 2 turret (impaler) and fires 5 times slower (1 shot every 5 seconds) - I bought it for one wave and then scrapped it because it was utterly pointless to keep.

Upgrading barricades seems like a waste of aether because the damage enemies do continually grows, to the point where a single striker can clear through a 100-HP barricade in two hits and a juggernaut can clear it in one by wave 18.

Fire-rate upgrades don't seem to affect single-shot physical damage weapons even when the instant reload skill is purchased. It would seem like they should.

So, overall, pretty good, but there's a lot of small issues that keep it from being great.

Pretty darn good sir

First i've got to give you props for makeing a steampunk game the world need more of those.

Gameplay was pretty good over all, the skills were all usefull i also like how they all only cost one point i hate saveing up upgrade points just to get one power up but thats just me lol. The guns were all pretty well balanced and worked well off each other i really like how you had long and short range that made for some good tactical gameplay. The turrets were also for the most part very well made (well all but the blizzard gun but more on that later),they were not to strong but not too weak.

one of the problems i had was with the blizzard gun i not really sure what happend but as soon as i bought it i shot up about 20 levels and my game lagged they lag stoped when i took the blizzard gun out but i was still cheaply 20 levels stronger and able to buy all the powe ups. And the other problem i had was with the difficulty being kinda all over the place one moment i'm killing everything befor they can even get close to my fort and the next bugs shoot across the screen and wip me out.

But all and i really liked this game you should be very proud of it and once you fix some of those itty bitty problems i think you'll have a hit on your hands.

this was good

i liked it, except at aroundwave 15 the lag almost made the game unplayable. and then i got a bug where there were like 20 exp gains little popup things, and i got killed because i couldnt see the monsters because the EXP gained thing was blocking them out.

Fun

"not a fucking highly developed game, like Nazi Zombies." Really? You think Nazi Zombies is "highly developed?" That's hilarious, really, quite hilarious.

Anyway, on to the game:

It's a fun little defense game with elements from other games we have already seen, yet it still brings something of its own to the table. I found it to be rather enjoyable and I have only a few issues with the game itself:

1. The voice work in the intro is muddy and could use some brushing up, otherwise the intro story was fine and intriguing.
2. The difficulty was a wee bit wonky at times. I found myself a wave 17 thinking that the game was extremely easy, then I got hit by a random enemy who had just broken through the wall and died instantly. It could use some rebalancing in changing the amount of pressure you feel during waves, while decreasing the damage you lost when attacked. Food for thought.

Now that I think about it, those were the only real issues I had.

The steampunk-esque atmosphere is great and makes for fantastic ambience in a game, bringing flavors and themes you don't normally see in games. The skill-point system was simple but entertaining, and the weapons (at least the ones I tried) seemed well thought out and felt that you got at least a little bit of an upgrade over your last weapon.

Overall, it's very nice and worth a look.

need polish

if you use the blizzard turret, you get like... infinite exp, but then it also lags the game a lot.

all the guns are useless by wave 20 ish
