Reviews for "Haven't Got A Prayer, pt2"

well hearing problems here also

I am not a english native but my english speaking and hearing is rather good if i might say so. Still it was very hard to understand what they are talking, most of it was like "word -sound-sounds-sounds-sounds-word" in terms of understanding. so like 50% if not more was just me guesing whats going on. Either you had your lips to close to the microphone or the volume was just to high, both ways - to much "bass". Aside from that i quite liked this animation. but really if you could record a better, more "clear" for ears audio version it would do wonders.

Slackman responds:

Sorry you couldn't understand it. I don't think it was a language problem. It probably had something to do with my ineptitude with audio, or my microphone just isn't good enough. At this point, I don't know if I can do anything to improve the audio, but I'll give it a look.

Well

The only thing I found bad about it was that it was a little slow moving, the animation wasn't too great and the sound quality needed improvement also. The rest was ok, it was kinda funny. Maybe work more on your movements.

Slackman responds:

Thanks for the advice! I'll try and make things a little more fluid, fast and audible in the future.

well

I cant say i appreciated the black guy in there. Its a shame much of the world view as being ignorant and violent thugs. Ya, that is the case in areas, but if u really get to know the stereotypical black male, u will discover it isnt that simple. People know right from wrong, if you read the bible, u'll discover any sexual act other than missionary position (penis ->vagina) is not acceptable, and concidered sodomy, but who really cares right? alcohol isnt accepted either. its a common misconception actually. What is referred to as "wine" in the bible, is actually the equivalent of grape juice. Jesus killing himself was just dumb and ya, offensive. Him being a pansy also is pretty rude.

On another note, why does it seem that whenever Jesus or Christian Lord (God) is involved in a comedy, they always enter with no idea whats going. As though Jesus left and never looked back and God has been asleep this whole time? I think Many people believe they arent watching. And that they will just "return" to attain a bunch of glory and worship. Yes, i can understand the humorous value their characters potentially have, but it is just pretty negative most cases.

The religious man is usually a target for scrutiny and being patronized. Nobody really wants to be the guy that tries hard to follow his religion. I don't think religious tendencies ever hurt any body (aside from jews... poor basterds).

Guess this is a portrait of a world view.

Slackman responds:

The black guy was not intended to be a representation of the entire race, but rather of the violent "gangsta" element of society. I considered him to be an individual within the story, a satirical element used to make a relevant point about a specific sub-group of people within society.

This isn't about reading the bible, but rather the stances that people take after reading it or pretending to read it. The fact is that plenty of people interpret the bible in different ways, as proven by having the countless different sects of western religion. If I was going for accuracy within the bible, I would have drawn a black Jesus. This is rather based on the oppressive interpretations of the bible that have popped up over the years since its creation.

I couldn't tell you why other people depicted Jesus or the Christian God in this manner (although I can think of many examples off the top of my head where God is very aware as to what's going on).

The religious man is a victim of scrutiny, partially because he sits on a high horse scrutinizing others. Do unto others, right? However, if you think that religious tendencies haven't ever hurt anybody, then perhaps you've never heard of a "holy war"? Terrorism perhaps? I'm not going to argue here though. Sorry you didn't like it.

I get it but maybe just a bad idea

It was kinda funny and I understand the point of view but I think if you were more knowledgeable about Catholicism you could have made a much more powerful statement. Although I am catholic I'll be the first to tell you that the religious basis itself is flawed but that's not to say that all Christians do everything with a malice intent. I see most of the post on here exclaiming tolerance along with others in similar reference but, are you really tolerant of Christians? i mean really a lot of us are victims of our own judgment. Hypocrisy is everywhere and everybody is blinded by it. how many videos are there of Jewish and Muslim based religions? not many and they are all on the same tree of religion just with different branches. I do not agree with most things in catholic church teachings and what a surprise... you're allowed to do that. i am not going to be excommunicated from the church because i believe being gay is not a sin. with that said, this video was a bad idea to me because you will offend a lot of people. everyone who isn't offend is going to say lighten up but that fact of the matter is the your attacking someone's life and beliefs and saying they're a bad thing. these people aren't criminals... they are people with different views that you don't share and its unfair to question them. same goes for the Christians offended. this is not the land of God... it is the land of the FREE. a place where you can believe what ever you want. if being gay is a sin then they don't get married in church but they can still get married in court by a judge which is separate from religious bias. this will always and forever be a subject of issue until people start approaching both sides with compassion and open mindedness. now i've tried my best to be as nutral as i can but i am sorry if in some way i offended anyone.

religion aside i thought your animation was good. the jokes were a bit too short lived but were funny at times. maybe a little better delivery with some of the characters. other than that it was decent. 6/10

Slackman responds:

I'd like to think I'm tolerant of people who are tolerant of me. This cartoon was not intended to summarize an entire group of people, but rather the highly-conservative, hateful, sub-catagory within Christians who seem to have problems with anyone whose views deviate from theirs.

I'd like it to be noted that the first segment of this cartoon was about Jews.

I do not consider it unfair to question someone else's belief system any more than I consider it unfair to question my own. Open mindedness is in my own personal opinion a good quality. I believe that if somebody wants to have their own belief system, that's fine by me, just as long as they don't start willfully imposing it on others. My beef is with people who assume that they are right, and are more than willing to tell me that I'm going to hell for not following them.

If we could all approach the topic with compassion and open mindedness, it would be a utopian situation, but that just isn't happening any time soon. It also wouldn't be nearly as funny.

I'm happy you liked the animation and that you found at least some of the jokes funny.

JESUS CHRIST IS RIGHT

NOT HILARIOUS, AND CRAPPY ANIMATION BUT WHAT I DID SEE IS YOU STOLE THE LYRICS FROM THE SONG CHRISTMAS FROM THE WHO!!! By the way I just like caps, don't think that I mean you actually "stole" them

Slackman responds:

Thanks for the clarification.
