Reviews for "The Paper Prince"

To original and lame not my type of cartoons but nice work tho nice and long lol

A bit average... like the character

Well, to be honest I have to say that it didn't leave any impression on me. I'm not saying it was bad or anything, but it lacks that sparkle which is required to develop a sympathy for the story and the character. I feel like I've seen more than a hundred stories with people unhappy with their jobs (the office job behind the desk is the most common one) that dream of doing something totally different. The graphics and animation are average and they DO NOT compensate for the absence of voice acting. If you want to submit it to an international festival, you have to come up with a better story or give the graphics a general lifting.

Use more colors and some shading (IT'S A MUST !!!)
Try to draw a bit more precisely and give your characters a nice, full body.
It won't hurt to pitch in a little voice acting :) [they don't have to be long dialogues, some simple lines will do)
Maybe put some different music in the backgrounds to emphasise the changing mood of your character/cartoon.

I guess that's pretty much it. Work hard and I bet you'll snatch a prize on that festival :) Good Luck.

Ah I think it will be a bit yet until I get my animation skills to a level to consistently draw a very well defined character. Aha.
Humm and the voice acting. Like.. ya I could've had some dialogue between like the girl and the main character but a) I kinda thought to myself the all or nothing approach; either lots o' voice of no voice and b) Yes.. I did not feel confident to voice act.. eheh. Like I couldn't get a clear idea of how I wanted his voice to sound in my head.
And as for the music.. well I just had no way of producing music! Heh. I did think to myself that it would be nice but... ya.. I just couldn't think of a way I could do it. And I also didn't know exactly what I wanted. Music would increase the liveliness of the Flash.

Thanks man

Boring

Average animation, average story.

Nothing exceptional i'm afraid, and the story didn't really have a climax.

Try again.

ernest-aka-gooey responds:

I will

okay...

It was okay... kinda average, keeptrying man

ernest-aka-gooey responds:

Myeh. I will

it was alright.

The story was generic, I feel like I've seen the "unhappy office worker in his small cubicle" scenario just one to many times.
My biggest problem was that the animation wasn't good enough to hold up a story with virtually no dialogue. I get that lots of people think it's impressive to tell a story through only body language and grunts, but unless the animation is sensational, unless I am actually deriving pleasure from the visuals alone, then I feel like it is a cop out.
Anyways, this is just one opinion, everyone else seems to love it.

ernest-aka-gooey responds:

Aw man a 2? Ehe nah but really I really appreciate the advice.
Like, while working on it I was kind of worrying about the scenario myself. But by that time I was already dead set on my course to finishing it. So I suppose this is a lesson learned for next time, eh?
Though you say that it's a problem that there is no dialogue, do you not find that you can still tell what's going on and what the story is without? Like, granted my animating is not stellar, but I think it is good enough to get the point across.
BUT I know that's not what you were saying... despite understanding what's going on you feel like I just kinda took a shortcut, right? Ya... I guess I have a few reasons why I chose not to have voices but I think I know what you mean. It would've been better with voices.
Well this is also something for next time too.
