Fun game, very hard.
I've never said a game was hard before, but this one seems hard, unless I'm missing something.
I mean, you have just enough money to buy a tower. And you need power, but don't have enough money for it. So just before wave 1 comes, you have enough money for power plant. Then next wave comes form the south and you have no money to buy another tower?
$2500 starting money should be enough for you to buy a farm or two, a power planet and a couple of basic towers to get you started. You might be trying to buy the most expensive towers straight off the bat... build up to them.
First thing I usually do is get a couple of mines up and running to build up cash quickly.

Finally a defense game that kicks ass. more aspects to the game to take care of as well as defense. The difficulty is perfect, it makes if moorhr fun lol. Finally a defense game for non-newbies.
Thanks my friend - difficulty curves are a really tough thing to balance ... you make it too easy, nobody will play it for long.

I won; and after about 25 tries what do I get? A screen saying "you have won"; I guess I don't know what I expected, but this is a really hard game and I felt so happy only to have it be a big let down. I wish there was a little video at the end or something funny or even something purposefully lame like the certificate in Incubus Pulsum.
Anyways for others trying to figure out how to beat it; it's a little bit luck honestly; but here's some pointers:
-The most important thing I learned is spread your buildings out all over the planet; you won't really be able to defend them all, but at least you won't be crippled by a single blast; it will only destroy 1 building.
-build a bunch of mines right away, at least 3; I usually do 4 and then take a little damage
-you can take damage for the first 10 rounds or so, although you want at least 1 or 2 guns if not more
-don't bother trying to teraform quickly; I never got it past 75% before being destroyed when I tried that.
-get the obliterator as fast as possible; by far the best weapon in the game, also the smart missiles are good.
-never upgrade to the third laser, and really I don't feel as if it's worth the second one either; I couldn't even support 1 lvl 3 laser alone with 7 power plants.
-You want at least 1-2 hospitals and workshops from the begining
-farms suck, but you need them; remember to spread them out
There's also some serious glitches with this game; I've had the initial teraformer cost 800, 1000, and 1200 in different games; I wonder if it's related to what you upgraded it to in the previous game or not. The power plants seem seriously glitched too, sometimes it seems like I'm always at max power and then a second later I may be at like -30 power. Very confusing.
Good game all around though; I really should have done homework instead though...
Fun but needs an easy mode
where everything is like half price. It's too unforgiving to learn the tech tree and keep getting killed suddenly when those dumbell shaped things arrive. It would be a great game if it had a noobie mode. Great graphics!
Version 1.0.1 just went live ... no "noob" mode but towers are a bit cheaper and buildings tougher, should help you survive longer.
Remember, challenge is good!
