Reviews for "Witching Hour"

Too easy

Just a little too easy. I could just hold down the spacebar and fire like nuts. Needs more enemies, powerups, levels, ect. Maybe some upgrades. I liked the animation, it was pretty good. everything worked okay. It just got too boring, too fast.

WarpZone responds:

Yeah, you're right. I just really needed that 4 hours of sleep, though.

Let's see how much more I can get done before midnight. :)

To-do list for improving the game

All right, ther's a lot missing, so read carefully and please us with a serious sequel.
1) Game too slow-paced, too easy then, maybe adjusting it with difficulties would be nice.
2) The levels are the same. It's ridiculous keeping the same enemies and boss for the whole level adding just one new monster and one more fireball raw for the boss. Variate!
3) Always the same weapon... hitting a grave could not take something different... so the game reveals himself as a noobificator. Different waepons.
4) More music please...

This game itself... sucks. Sorry for that. But i'm giving 6 anyway, just get better!

WarpZone responds:

1) Yes sir. I'm on it.
2) Right away, sir. The graphics are there, I just need to plug stuff in.
3) There's a weapon system in place, I just need to implement the powerup system.
4) You can have maybe 2 or 3 more songs before we hit 10MB... what if we kept the old music but varied the bacxkgrounds?

Would you like some great gameplay with that?

Listen, AMAZING graphics. Nice smoke effect and everything, but you really need to focus on the gameplay! That's what makes a game great! Add some power-ups, some difficulty, some upgrades, and this would be a great game.

WarpZone responds:

I'm on it! :)

Thanks! :)

This is very dull...

As a SHMUP, the particular gameplay is incredibly mundane. And is overall too simple. The enemies are boring, and the gameplay is incredibly repetitive. Something you must consider in making a game is that GAMEPLAY is king. This would have served much better as a movie, given your skills in that arena of drawing and I can most certainly see this as something like that.

Your art is very good; it is without a doubt the best part about this entire submission and I do applaud you for putting a lot of effort into the effects as well as the backgrounds. But reusing the same background for every level, compounded by a single shot mechanism for holding it down, bullets are really too slow and too easy to dodge. I only played through two levels and I had enough.

If you are ever to make a second part to this game, or a remastered version; I would suggest this:

Give it a story to follow, maybe a few cutscenes dealing with that.

Scenery change is definitely a good thing. People get bored of looking at the same thing over and over. There are definitely infinite ways you can go abou this.

Same goes with the enemies, have a few different kinds of bosses, each with varying abilities and bullet patterns. This is a SHMUP, they are MEANT to be hair-tearing hard. Just remember, you can make bullet paths beautiful and deadly too.

Have different kinds of weapons, I would suggest three basic spells, and the longer you would charge it, the stronger it becomes. Like... Fire, Lightning, and Ice. Very basic. Maybe like... 3 charge levels by how long she chants the spell.

wel....

it's ok but you need to add more stuff to it

WarpZone responds:

So... just stuff in general? Or did you have any specific kind of stuff in mind?

Thanks for talking. But your talking should mean things.
