This is the second part of a 4 part series exploring different religions to be released this week.

Part one can be found here:

Part four can be found here:

This segment of the series deals with Catholocism.

Just a warning, there is content in here that some people may find to be a bit offensive to their beliefs.

Anyway, sit back, and enjoy!

"funny"

date: December 7, 2009

i definatly enjoyed the movie, although i i mised what the gang bangerand baby lady weresaying due tothe speed with which they said it.

by the was jesus' flash back upon seeing himself crusafied inspied by the old bill hicks bit about if jesus ever came back, the last he'd ever wanna see was a cross. and comparing crusifix jewlerry to going up to kenidy's widow with sniper riffle pendent

Author's Response:

I'd never heard the Bill Hicks bit, although it's an old joke and it's been done by loads of people. Rather, this was more inspired by Lenny Bruce who said that if Jesus was killed today, Catholics would be wearing little electric chairs around their necks.

"hm.."

The humor was a blast up untill jesus killed himself. That much was to self contradictory to the fact that "suicide is amoung the unforgivable sin". But you spun it around and saved the day with the new image replacing the cross in the church, throwing in the point.

-1 star for jesus suicide, but +9 stars for displaying the faults of sheeple.

December 6, 2009

Author's Response:

I did realize that suicide was an unforgivable sin (he does make a remark to that effect), but the cartoon just wouldn't have worked without it. It needed something dramatic to reinforce the point, and having Jesus commit an unforgivable sin in response to all the hate carried out in his name seemed like an original way to do it.

I'm glad you liked it anyway though!

"Catholic Counterculture in a nutshell"

date: December 5, 2009

Great man. Nice animation, very nice concept (actually you literally showed the basis of all of us who condemn church fanatism, not religion), and good music. Overall very well done.

I actually loved the "holy shit" joke (lol, yeah i may be in a too good mood, but nevermind). And I must say man, I really admire you, you have some great BALLS to draw Jesus drowning in piss. Respect.

Well, it looks like you got what I was aiming for perfectly. That truly warms my heart. Thank you.

"I agree with what hes saying"

date: June 20, 2009

It all makes sense, hes only saying what is actually happening and wow god really wants you to say "have fun suckin dicks in hell."

June 20, 2009

Author's Response:

Thanks. No worries about the "suckin dicks in hell" guy, I just consider things like that to support my point. Religion is leaning towards being more about condemning those with differing beliefs to oneself rather than love and peace. Go figure, right?

"To a job... done"

This was a terrible satire, riding mainly on the shock humor of making Jesus kill himself, which, in itself, I don't see what it is supposed to parody about Catholics. The only bit of Catholic satire I saw was taking a shot at the pro-life aspect. Tip for you Scott, read some actual satires (I recommend the Roman Satirist Juvenal) to learn how one should be written (or in this case animated). Also, do some research about the Church before you deride it, because you actually lowered your satire to an Ad Hominem attack on Christianity. You get a 3 for decent animation.

Author's Response:

Jesus originally died for people's sins. In this short, he does the same, although the sins are more modern. It's meant to satirize the absolutist, oppressive rules of Catholicism as well as some of its more hypocritical and hateful tendencies. Pro-life, worshipping symbols of death, homophobic and violent behaviors are all targeted here.

I guess I'll have to check out some of Juvenal's work, but in return I urge you to look at more modern satires. My work mixes dark humor with satire in order to create something kinda new. Look at South Park for example.

Anyway, thanks for the review.
