Well, you took a shot at it anyway =)

The purple is a tad brighter than the stars, due to the characters being so much larger. Instead of AA22FF, try using <font color="5f9ea0">
<font color="#4b0082">
<font color="#9370db">
<font color="#7b68ee">

<font color="#dda0dd">
and see which you like best.

I felt the purple wouldn't stand out very much (and that's why I CHOSE it for the stars, BTW... singlelisted stars shouldn't stand out at all since that's the bare requirement for listage), so I changed the entire column to boldface. Something I probably should have done in the first place, come to think of it, to make the total column stand out more.

Woot woot. Did you notice I coloured the stat types at the head of the main list's columns and boldfaced them as well? I think that works pretty well. Reminds people what yellow stands for, too, since there's only one cell in the entire table with it. Was only one, at least. Now there's two. #;-}>

now, for some purple sample time. Dogma, I'm just going to make some sample top 3s with the various purples you listed in your post... + some options I'd rather use because they conform to my wonderful double-character RGB tastes. #;-}>

Oh, and forget that crap I said about singlelisted stars standing out or not standing out or whatever. I had a total lapse of brainpower and forgot that purple was for DOUBLElisted, not singlelisted. Anyway, same principle... supposed to stand out less than 3x, 4x, or 5x in that status column.

Okay, anyway... I'm gonna go set that color test page up after I'm done posting with gfoxcook for the night, so I'll use my alt to post teh link to it later in the night.

1 = the purple TOTAL column as it is now
2 = Dogma's teal
3 = Dogma's dark dark purple
4 = Dogma's lavendar-ish purple
5 = Dogma's slightly-deeper-than-the-blam-colour blue
6 = Dogma's deep pink
7 = Dogma's light pink
8 = gfox's reddish version of 1
9 = gfox's deep pink (basically the same as 7)
10 = gfox's pinkish purple

One note regarding 2... if I'm going to go with teal, I might as well use this:

5599AA

instead of this:

5f9ea0

They're basically the same, and the former adheres to my style of RGB colour choice.

You know... I think I'll just go ahead and switch to 5599AA. Feel free to tell me what you think about it and the other options, Dogma, but I loves teh teal, and while I wouldn't want to nab your entire teal scheme from the EGRL, just using 5599AA for the TOTAL column ain't bad. And it certainly stands out from the rest of the columns, too. So let me know what you think, I'm changing it over now. But I'll leave the test.html up in case you want to see what I've described. But I'm pretty sure I'll stick with the teal and leave the current purple on the doublelisted stars.

Just for the record, though, my own comments on the tests:

1) I think 1's fine, personally. Not too dark OR light IMO. Looks different in IE and firefox, of course, though...
2) great! Which is why I'm changing to a slight variant of it. #;-}>
3) can't even read it. Worst option.
4) Not a bad option, but kinda makes the total column look drab.
5) a very nice blue... but WAY too much like the exp column's blue already is. So no.
6) I don't like teh pink options much.
7) I don't like teh pink options much.
8) basically just like 1 but a bit off. Looks fine to me.
9) I don't like teh pink options much.
10) best of the pink options but not that great.

So, in all, I'd say that 1, 2, 4, and 8 are the only good options of the 10 I put on the test. And I'm going with 2 basically. So there we have it. Situation all summed up, new files (index.html and 20050122.html) being uploaded... in a minute or two. DING-DING!

Well, to 5599AA, not 5F9EA0, but the difference is minimal.

Red: 55 is a BIT darker than 5F
Blue: 99 is a BIT darker than 9E
Green AA is a BIT lighter than A0

Ahhh then it was a weak flame war. I saw much worse in the past (counting some old personal flame wars) but one thing is sure, everyone here don't want to see this happening again (even though avoiding any flame war that could occur in the future might be impossible because well, we are humans with emotions that can't always hold themselves) and certainly not worse flame wars. :)

Well that was a side effect of a little goal I had set up. I secretly planned several months ago, knowing when I would hit 13.37vp. A few goals for myself by that point. I wanted 1000 reviews, and a 56K points and such. I wanted to achieve at that point. The side effect has been a good point gain on this list. If one can maintain 100 bp avg, it easy to get 940 per week, with exp.

As far as a break, I'm not plannign on a break for a while. I may set a new review goal for myself, the idea of seeign 1337 on the list soudns appealing.

Yes, gfoxclock is one of gfoxcook's alts. He was using gfoxclock because he had a post count using gfoxcook that he wanted to keep.

I realize now that this has likely already been said, but there are way too many squiggly lines above dealing with minute color switches, etcetera. I must admit, I haven't read it all.

The pantlist is my favourite, it is fun to read and it is easy to follow, plus it shows alot of achievment. Only dedicated users make this list... i am a product of that proof. Been here since '02, but havn't been dedicated enough. I would have been double, maybe triple listed if... i... well, you know. It is too sad to talk about. : (
