Awesome as that would have been, no. They were in separate fights.

Rather unfortunate. I have to do martial arts at school in Pe, I am pretty bad at it, can't get my kicks very high.

l don't think it would be very awesome to fight a white and a black belt together...

Depends what belt he was... I guess.

Well, it takes time. I can easily go for the head of anyone my height (6ft), but it's taken me 5 years to do so. And as for the "injuries", the kick to the face didn't do much, seeing as there was no swelling or anything. I still have trouble putting weight on my bruised arm, though.

even if you're a black belt, fighting a black belt AND another guy is still hard...

Yeah. I could be getting a name change soon, so be prepared for that.
Because this one is starting to get annoying. But it all depends on Wade's good graces.

It is worth a try, I my self regret putting numbers at the end of mine, but I don't mind to much.

That's partly why my name is like this. I wanted it to be unique, as so I would have numbers at the end.
But that seems fairly trivial now.

I don't mind the mirror aspect, just the ungodly length of it. That and it's Death Note, of all shows.
I still like the show, but just....I don't know.

I like to assume people fought with broken glass back then.
But, I only do because I don't vote anymore. And it's still plausible.

What?

I said "I like to assume". Just picture it. Two vikings enjoying a nice flagon of mead in a mead hall. They start arguing, then they start shoving, and then one of them downs their flagon, and breaks it against the table and holds up a shard of it to the other viking.
So picturesque.

That would be hard since they didn't have any glass back then (except for perhaps some really rich people who imported glass drinking vessels), but they did have knives!
I once read about a supposedly popular drinking sport from the Viking era. One fighter takes out his knife and measures with his thumb nail on the blade with the challenge "How much steel can you handle?", the other fighter measures perhaps a larger amount of steel, and so it goes back and forth between the two fighters until they've reached an agreement. The knives' blades are then wrapped in leather up till the agreed length of blade and the fight commences. Up till four inches (10 cm) of steel would be common. Usually ended up with one fighter dead. It was according to the source also quite common in these fights to tie a two yard long rope between the two fighters' belts, to make sure no one backed away to far.
Of course backing off from either challenge or fight would be deemed very disgraceful.

Was there any prominent writer from the viking period where we gain much knowledge from? sources etc..

The Eddas by the Icelander Snorri Sturlason and Saxo Grammaticus' The Chronicle of Denmark, but they were both Christian and thus their accounts should not be taken a the final Truth. Saxo's work was even commissioned to tell the "Heroic" ancestry of Denmark and it's Kings, and is full of historical discrepancies, but still a good source as long as one is aware of it's flaws. The Arabic traveller Ibn Fadlan gave a good account of his travels along the rivers of Russia and his stay in Scandinavia (unsure where actually, the name he gave of the area, Ultima Thule, isn't know today). But there are few, if any, accounts from the time written by Scandinavians. Runes carved on rock aren't good for long stories.
Other than that there are as you might understand plenty of Scandinavian historians who write about the Vikings. Sources for me are Anders Baeckstedt's book about Nordic Gods and Heroes ("Nordiska Gudar och Hjaeltar" in Swedish), Mats G Larsson's Vikings in the East ("Vikingar i Oesterled") and Lars Magnar Enoksen's The Viking Art of Warfare ("Vikingarnas Stridskonst")

They measure from the tip, the longer down you put your nail the braver (or foolhardier) you are. The wrapping is from the hilt up to the nail, more uncovered steel gives deeper wounds.
Very interesting. We have currently been learning about the Vikings invasion of England in the dark ages, specifically how they took over York. They didn't make to many progressions though, and somewhat ruined what the Romans and to a lesser extent Saxons had done.
Thanks, vdviking. I knew there was glass back then, but I didn't know it was that rare in Scandinavia.
And, that's an interesting drinking game, to say the least.
You know you've got a good game when someone ends up dead. Jai Alai, anyone?
