Back from my one day ban, which rather ironically was the same time I went to bed, so it didn't really matter. Jew is still on his 3 day ban for back seat modding, give him a gods welcome when he returns.

It seems what I need to do to accomplish that would be to better recognize spam threads and keep myself from posting in them. After all, 2 of my 3 bans have been for that. And your right. We do not seem to be doing our part to effectively keep the army's image a good one.

also, if you're going to learn a language for the sake of knowing the Viking Tounge, Then Icelandic is what you're looking for.

Almost no Change whatsoever from Old norse, But it IS one of the hardest languages in the world, with Insane linguistic rules.

I can teach you the Phrases and such you need to know, just PM me, But the grammar rules are far too complex, So I'm not going to bother :)

My school had a school trip to Iceland, there is another one coming up. It costs allot so I can't go but it did look pretty cool. When did Iceland actually take it's roots with viking culture then?

Vikings sailed from Norway to Iceland, in About 800 AD.
pretty much from the beginning of Viking times,
Then Norway and sweden and Denmark got influenced my the rest of europe while Iceland was just some Island in the middle of nowhere and nothing changed.

So we have LOTS of remains of Viking culture, most of our Vocabulary is from norse myth

Talking about culture, I was hoping to go somewhere with Scandinavian roots next summer so my holiday can be mildly productive. Iceland would be good but it is quite far away and I here it is expensive.

Also, For those looking for Viking Metal, and Don't know anything besides Amon Amarth!
Ásmegin is probably the most vikingmetal band there is ,Their Name Means " Might of the æsir" Then there is Týr which sort of don't count since they do tons of Covers of Actual viking songs.

For the more obscure, there is Einherjer and Enslaved,Both are excellent.

Then there is Icelandic Fortíð.

and Like a Fucking ton of "Folk metal" and some "Viking metal" that are just Black Metal with Pagan lyrics.

Nice bands there, I own amon amarth and Tyr albums, I will check out the rest. Think Equilibrium are viking metal?

I tried all the links above, and I my opinion hasn't really changed. Asmegen and Tyr were really the only two I liked to a degree. Although, while listening to these, and what words I could possibly decipher, I had noticed a few similarities to German. And I do admit, it was nice to get listen to some music related to my ancestors.

I don't dislike metal, I just dislike metal I can't understand. Like metal where their voices are so contorted you can't make out a thing they're saying. I prefer metal where they speak coherenly.

I guess that's true. They can be as angry as possible, but I need to know what they're saying. The song could have the greatest instrumentals ever, but if a raspy incoherent voice breaks it up, it just ruins it for me.

I like it when they growl/scream also, it sounds pretty cool most of the time. Also, if you're angry or something, listening to it is one of the greatest ways to vent ever. If you can sing along, even more so.

Like I said before, I'm alright with the screaming and growling, just as long as I can understand the growl. Actually, I like the screaming, it's just the growl I have slight issues with. And, yes, it is a great way to vent, but I prefer punching something or playing a violent game.

Preferably the G.U.N. Base level in Shadow the Hedgehog.
