Would you like to be a mod?

Okay, this is a bit out of the norm, but I thought it could be fun. I know users always ask us if they can help out with the site, be a mod, etc. Normally we frown on users who request special status as it's usually a bad sign. Users that want power, probably shouldn't have it. So we have always gone through a nomination process, and then take the nominations to a vote. The ultimate decision is always that of the NG admins (usually myself), but I always try to go along with the mods.

So I thought it would be fun to ask the users this:

If you have spare time and would be willing to help out Newgrounds, what kind of moderator would you most like to be? If you'd like to be more than 1 type of moderator, say a forum mod and a review mod, then list which one you'd want to be the most, followed by your 2nd choice, and if you want 3rd and 4th choices. The choices are forum mod, review mod, audio mod, and icon mod.

Forum mods watch over the forums. They can delete posts, topics, and ban users.

Review mods watch over reviews. They can delete incoming bad reviews and they can also go through a list of reviews that have been marked as abusive and either delete the review, delete the review and ban the reviewer, clear the abusive flags and penalize the users who flagged it, or clear the abusive flags with no penalty to those who flagged it.

Audio mods listen to audio portal entries from non-approved artists and decide to approve them, or ban them.

Icon mods watch incoming icons made by the users (or themselves) and either approve them, or delete them.

So if you had the chance, which type of mod would you like to be? Keep the reponses professional, and on topic. Also indicate what time, or times, you are most active on Newgrounds and how much time you spend on the site. Basically your response should be like an essay, stating what type of mod you'd like to be, and why you'd make a good mod.

For those of you who would normally keep quiet about wanting to be a mod, because it's against the rules, feel free to let us know your interests here.

I can't promiss anyone here will be a mod, but maybe if some of you were brought up in nominations, the info you provide here could give the current mods a better insight on if you'd make a good mod or not. It may also introduce us to users we haven't considered that could make great mods.

I read the forums often enough to actually be useful at it. I'd just go numb with boredom on the other ones and never do it.

I live in Australia (GMT+ 10) and I have no life so I'm probably going to be on after school untill I goto sleep (4pm-12am+), I got finals coming up in 2 weeks so maybe less during my exams but after that I got holidays so I'll probably be on from when I wake up till I goto sleep unless I find something social to do.

I can't do it Tues/Thurs night and sunday morning because I have Aikijujutsu but other then that I basically do nothing else but browse forums.

Wade, I got tons of experience with moderating forums, I mod my own and I also modded over at a death metal forum, which was pretty tough, there were tons of spam and attack threads and NSFWs popped up every two seconds, and it's important for hte mod to knock shit like that out so new users don't see those things as views of the actual band.

I don't know where I would be the best MOD. I visit the General section mostly. I could do the art forum. I know the review MODs could use some help, so I wouldn't mind going through tedious stuff and doing some filtering for you.

I would love to be a forum mod.
I post a lot, I have a good grasp of the rules, I'm a regular. I think those are hopefully some of the qualities you look for .
I am active on NG during weekends the most(obviously) and during the week days, towards the middle of the day(the afternoon).

Ive been on this site since '01. I just never made an account.

My first choice would be BBS moderator, although I probably would not get that.
My second choice would probably be Review mod, because I hate when people do not leave construcitve reviews and instead just leave crappy ones.
Third Choice would be Audio, since I love music.
Fourth would be Icons...

I apologize for any possible error, and I'm sure there was at least one, but I think I might qualify, tending not to obuse titles and ranks such as forum mod or otherwise. If possible I would like to apply, because I would like to try to help make the experience on the forums and NG in general, better in any way possible.

I get on NG whenever.
I would delete crap topics, ban alts (the bad kind), and I would most likely use my powers to ban a few people I hate so much for the rules they break.

Nevermind, I'm not gonna get down and beg for modship, I've modded enough places in my time and it should be enough to say I have enough experience, I also have a way of seeing how a forums mentality generally goes and I believe that in order to make any online community more real, negativity is a requirement, so excessive modding doesn't help create that atmosphere, basically what I'm trying to say is that I know how to moderate in moderation, and I think I'd be fit for the job.

Nobody here should be mod.

Most mods shouldn't be mod either. Hang around long enough and there'll be users who can point you to incidents of abuse.

You listed them in the exact order I would have placed them:

1) Forum Mod, because I spend the majority of my time on NG here in the BBS, and therefore it seems most fitting. I like to try to help when I can.

I'd much rather be an audio mod more than anything else. I've got a keen ear for stolen stuffs and I know of some material that I've had some big doubts on their authenticity.

I've also got 10k+ posts and hate everyone equally. Make me a forum mod. Gogogo.

My first choice, as with most people, would be the glamorous unpaid life of a forum mod. If I had to pick a second, I'd go with review mod.

As far as the times I'm on NG, I'd say I'm on/off pretty much every day from 6-11, except fridays. Saturdays, I can go from noon till whenever I lose interest. I use the term on/off because I phase in and out between browsing the internet, working on my stuff, and whatnot.

I'd probably be a good mod because I've been around for so long, and I have a fairly good understanding of how the site functions. I've developed (mostly through trial and error) a good sense for that fine definition between spam topic and humor. I also know where the rules are, and I'm pretty good with navigating the site.

If I could choose which type of mod I could be, I would go with forum moderator. I spend most of my time on Newgrounds in the BBS and I know most of the rules. I've been coming to the BBS since I registered on Newgrounds and as you can see, my post count is not very high due to the fact that I try not to post in spam topics (which are most of the topics). Since I mostly lurk on the BBS I know what kind of topics are accpetable and which ones aren't.

Most of the time I come to the BBS I find spam topics that don't get locked and have clearely borken some rules. This is not because the mods we have are not good enough, but because of the fact that topics are made very quickly on Newgrounds due to it's high popularity. And so if I were to be a mod, I could help out the existing mods to clean up the forum.

As foe my availabilities, I am usually online on the afternoons (Eastern time zone) from 5 to 7 then from 9 to 2. Other than that, I come on the BBS during the day because of my long breaks at school.

all the spam topics annoy me I follow the rules I am not perfect sometimes I mistype stuff but no body is perfect. only tom and wade fulp are perfect. I been here for a year now. I spend I lot of time on the bbs and post maturly.I also think that some mods abuse there powers but most do not. I would not. I will be willing to some how prove myself worthy of that power. I also try to inprove the bbs but I mess up. but hey all I can do is try my best because as I said before no one is perfect. and thank you for takeing the time to read my post it is a true honer for al mighty wade fulp to read I post be me a 14 year old ng user.

Forum mod, without a doubt. Day in and day out I see a lot of dumb topics being made not to mention the numerous repeats of clubs in the C&C. And considering that I spend a big chunk on NG on a daily basis, I think it would be fun... Even with the added responsibilities.

I would like to be a BBS moderator.

I usually come on newgrounds after school. I get home at approximately 3 pm U.S eastern time. Recently I haven't been coming on due to my ex-girlfriend. However, we are done, and I'm back to stay. I am usually on the entire time I am on the internet. I usually use the computer for approximately 2 hours a day, give or take.

I would be a good mod because overall, I try to encourage more intellect. As you can see, my grammar isn't horrible. Also, I don't post any topic for the hell of posting them, and I get angry when people ruin our time by posting utter rubbish. I try to be as helpful as possible. I don't make fun of people for making redundant questions, I offer real help. I have had my noob moments, and when I acted like a complete ass, but I am beyond that and am ready to grow in my maturity.

As I said I don't particularly mind either way.

The reason I would be a good mod is simply the time slots in which I'm available. That and I'm not a complete and utter idiot, I can read between the lines and notice well stated sarcasm.

Eh didn't read whole post... was kinda rushing cause had to do something at home.

I'm not as active as I was 2 years ago, but I still visit and lurk once every couple days. I see a lot of shitty reviews pass through the games, making you wonder, what the hell. I even used to write shit reviews, but that was long ago. I'd probably make a good review mod because when I wrote the shit reviews I know which ones actually got deleted and put a few of my reviews up for deletion request myself. And because of that, I know the difference between quality and utter shite.
