If you are entering our Halloween contest, we now have a Halloween Pre-Loader you can use in your movie! Submissions that feature the traditional pre-loader will still be eligible, although this one is more fun.
Now that school is back in session, not as many users have been voting on "under judgment" submissions in The Portal. We thought now would be a good time to remind everyone how it works!
When someone submits a game or movie to Newgrounds, it goes through a 200 vote judgment phase. During this time, the fate of the submission is determined by your votes. A submission with a low score is removed from the site, or "BLAMMED" as we affectionately call it. A submission that scores well is "protected" and continues on through the Portal, where it can win daily, weekly and monthly awards.
To reward users for participating in the system, you are awarded experience points for voting. You can log up to ten experience points per day if you create a free account! The more points you have, the more weight your votes carry, so you can vote with the power of multiple users.
We also award blam and protect points - if you vote low on a submission which is blammed, you get a blam point. If you vote high on a submission that is protected, you get a protection point.
Every day that you deposit your experience points is equivalent to one entry in a monthly drawing. One winner per month will receive $100!
The entire system works when users get involved in the judgment process. Check out the Portal and you will see entries in the left column highlighted with a gray bar. These are the under judgment submissions! Check 'em out and help determine their fate!
