Nice new pictures anyway, which tablet did you get? And why a new one?

Haha, nah, no photo ref at all, its allmost allways right from my head, i study peoples looks from real life, that helps.

The new tablet is a intuos 6x8 (i think). The old one broke down, simple as that.

This is a good thread, its nice to see you constantly adding new pictures to it. I just saw this topic for the first time and really like your paintings, expesially with the firgure and head. I personally hate painting, never was my expertise I guess, anyways you use colors really nicely. How long have you been doing this kind of stuff?

Thank you.

What do you mean with "this kind of stuff"?

Yea I basically meant these more serious paintings, and by the way what meduim do you use, more detailed - like do you usually work with acrylic, tempra, or oil paints and are most of these 100% original or did you edit them in photoshop or some other computer software?

Also how do you transfer them to the computer, I assume a scanner because they have a good quality.

Allmost everything in this thread is made digitaly.

Is it only me that dont have trouble seeing if something is made digitaly or by traditonal methods? I keep hearing this question over and over, and i get as surprised every time.

It's pretty obvious.. paper has smudges and lines 'n' crap, digital is neater.

When drawn properly.

usually its pretty easy to tell but with your work, well its not really the common digital art I'm used to seeing on NG and stuff, it looks like it could have been a traditional piece, also I thought someone said that they were paintings earlier in the thread

I don't find it hard, although the colours and suck of which you use are all very similiar, as in, they are wierd and original. So I can see why people can find it hard.
Keep up the good work.

That one turned out really nice, I like it alot. Only 3 colors and yet it feels like there is more to it. I really like the effect it brings from not using a outline around the whole figures

Reminds me of a scene in Cashern, just because of the red background and the way you've done the lighting. It's not clear he's holding a gun but it still looks good!

I like how your rough but... accurate your highlights are. (If that makes sense)

Haha, thanks, i get your meaning.

How do you do that? Is it drawing in bold strokes and erasing where needed.
It's quite unique - and very lovely :D

Its not very unique, and its not hard to do really, its just a stop in progres towards perfectionism, you block up areas where there should be lightning, and then you ... kinda fool around with what you got, and you stop when you dont know how to do go on. Hahaha. I cant really explain.

Which also brings up another interesting question. How do you know when to say, 'That's enough'? You could quite easily overkill bold highlights like that - but yours are frustratingly perfect.

Guess i just answered that one :P

Is it just practice? Or do you have some secret gem of colouring knoledge?

Just practice.

Wow, thats really nice :) I love it, its really stylish. The black and grey works really well together and you have nailed the proportions really well. I love the details on the persons face as well. It looks "cell shaded". I have no idea how ypou got the shading done on this water colour! Is it made up of quite a few layers i bet. Anyway nice stuff, really stylish. As always i love all your stuff, keep it up :D.
