And there we have it. Lots of lovely raw exp data from my pentalist spreadsheet from my final update of it.

Very nice, indeed. To bad I ain't on it yet ^^.

But it's interesting to see that list anyway. I'm Ranked #711 with 9880 Exp right now. That means I should make hughe progress in the rankings while I slowly get to 10k exp...

Closing on that top 50 spot ;) and also the 20k barrier, which is super cool. That'll be triplelisted for the 20ks :P

I've got some spots ahead of me to make up, but I'm officially 200 spots behind you Greg!

Should be able to pass Sharaka (Level on Exp); Mackie40k and KyleRoberts very soon.

I have sooo long to go before I remotely even reach that list. Hopefully by December I'll be noticed like all of you guys lol. Right now I'm at a stage where I'm not going up too far anymore. Once in a while I'll jump 5 ranks, then the next day I'll lose a rank. I don't understand it, but I'm getting there. Slowly but surely.

That's due to the time you deposit your EXP in relation to the site ranking update. The profile rankings are updated every morning at 5am (according to my calculations with the time difference), so if you deposit your EXP after 5am one day, and then again after midnight, it will count as two deposits by the time the rankings are updated the second time, causing you to jump a few more places than you normally would.

Conversely, if you deposit your EXP before the ranking update one day, and after it the next day, it will count it as no deposits by the second ranking update, which is why you can go down a rank or two despite depositing daily.

Hope I explained that well enough - it seemed a bit rambly.

Maybe so, but now you know a lot of the 10,000-10,500 range people that you can look forward to passing in the coming months, so. Better close to the 10k+ range than far from it, for the purposes of getting some practical use out of the sort job I did on my pentalist data there. #;-}>

But it's interesting to see that list anyway. I'm Ranked #711 with 9880 Exp right now. That means I should make hughe progress in the rankings while I slowly get to 10k exp...

Only 120 exp away? Well damn yeah, you're gonna pass tons of people in the next couple hundred exp. It's gonna rock.

A lot of people hit 10k exp and then stop depositing soon after, kinda like 30,000 b/p in the b/p world.

Thanks! Well, I did post in here, and all the other stats list topic that my pentalist covers before the update, but I wasn't going to wait around for all the listmakers to help out. Coop gave me some help, and I used your list, BBB's last site update on 7/16/07.... and I used Coop's saves list, and the blams list, the reviews list, etc. etc. So Auz, and you, and others indirectly helped me in absentia. #;-}>

But anyway, like I said, I went so far deep into BBB's exp list so as to make sure I didn't miss a single 10k+ exper. I didn't, but I didn't go all the way to 9k+ exp, or I would have found this "Muffin" character Bahamut's told me about over in the pentalist thread (11,000 saves, 9600 exp).

Of course I know I'm about to hit 20k exp, and I'm quite happy about that. 15k to 20k = the most fast exp period of my NG life thanks to my inactivity in the past couple of years, but.... I hadn't thought about the 3x20kness. That's pretty swell. #;-}>

That was as excellently phrased as I've ever seen the "explaining the depositing time vs. rank update time" situation with NG's exp amounts fluctuating -10 / 0 / +10 depending on the times.

Hope I explained that well enough - it seemed a bit rambly.

Well, it looks pretty tough here, and of course it'll be tough to climb up these ranks, but it appears some of those users in front of me are still depositing, but have missed some. So I should be able to pass DirtySyko and Guldfisk1986 as a result of this.

mrx454 has deposited since then, but has missed a few, so there's now a 30 EXP gap between us.

IvanTuroc and Newgrundling have reached level 35 and I doubt I can pass them, although NGling seems to have missed lots of deposits recently. I remember him having so much more EXP than myself. SurfaRosa and grimoiremyst1 I also don't expect to pass anytime soon since they're a bit ahead of the Level 35 EXP requirement now.

Morpheus has missed a few deposits since, so I expect to pass him sometime, same for Killem.

The person I will be able to pass the easiest out of the lot there is the-phantom-spancker (sorry old Wi/Ht?'er), who has stayed at 10 EXP away from level 35 for a while now.

+20 well I think I might be able to pass the ol windbag hopefully he doesnt see this.

105 - 17,740 - ornery-scotsman

112 - 17,540 - Mr-Snrub

only +40 so another possiblitly here

Wahoo ranked 119 according to the profile

121 - 17,275 - Xanadu32 +everyone else too ranked 122-max

Well like in b/p and sometime in V/p I am slowly passed but not exp. Nobody in that set will pass me.

I was trying to get it all in 6 posts, but the text limit wouldn't let me get all the way up to 688 in the 6th post... so here's a 7th one. Ugh. Oh well, I wanted to make sure all the names were HTML links so you guys can click straight through to profiles. Also, this way if ramagi or anyone else... wants to say update a few top 500 exp lists... you have all the profile links you need to do so. ENJOY, FOLKS!

Well, you may have recently become my mortal enemy, gfoxcook, but that was awfully nice of you to update the list like that (because that takes a massive amount of effort!), for which I sincerely thank you (even as I must ever warn that your defeat shall be so utterly complete that the bards shall speak your name with hesitation!). But you could have asked for the help of others (such as a myself) to make the burden at little less heavy.

Still, it's nice to see that I've nearly overtaken b33f, even though my next big target, RageVI, is still far away... Thanks again!

Ah gfox, you flatter me. Perhaps this is payback for the excessive gfox-flattery over in the Wi/Ht? Regulars thread...? Must... resist... ego-inflation...

But you love your extra-detailed essay posts, and we love you for them. Besides, I find it's always kinda difficult to know if you've explained something well enough to someone, so I wasn't sure. :)

On a top 2,000 EXP users note - I'm currently weedling my way further into the top 2,000 - but it's taking a while. I'm currently at #1,746, which is decent enough, I suppose. I guess I'll just focus on attaining some serious B/P, and let teh EXPs slowly compile into something more sizable.

This is almost assuredly accurate.

That sounds like a possible maybe.

0 so a 20 days to go hmm deJa VPu
only +40 so another possiblitly here
0 so its only 6 more days to 118th ranked wow
0 and passed only 19 more ranks to go.
+ 60 maybe able to pass him.

120 - 17,330 - iscrulz
+80 so in 3 years I should be in the top 100. It will be easy but long.
Wahoo ranked 119 according to the profile

Helps? Dude, I sorted the exp list you're so thankful for out of my pentalist update's data in like 1 minute.

It took about 5-10 minutes more to get the ranks, exp #s, names and all the dashes to separate them and the HTML for profile links to be formatted properly. Just did most of the work in OpenOffice, pasted into notepad, used the nice find/replace feature that WinXP notepad has (best thing about XP versus Win95/98, IMO.... don't have to use WordPad for such things, as Notepad does 'em too!)...... to get rid of the tabs and shit that woulda messed up the links....

And boom, the hard part was having to cut the 688 lines of the list up into 7 different posts here in the topic. No biggie. #;-}>

Still, it's nice to see that I've nearly overtaken b33f, even though my next big target, RageVI, is still far away... Thanks again!

But you love your extra-detailed essay posts, and we love you for them. Besides, I find it's always kinda difficult to know if you've explained something well enough to someone, so I wasn't sure. :)

Well, sure. Well, at least without turning off many of them. Anyone who woulda said tl;dr to your explanation of this issue... is a moron. #;-}>

It's a long haul. Aim for the top 1000, YOU CAN DO IT.

Why 688 and not 700? Does the number hold some significance for you?

Argh. I really meant to mention why it was 688, because I was just going to post the top 500, but I knew I had info accurately all the way to 688 people.

Why did I know that?

683 - 10,010 - Ryu-Kage
684 - 10,010 - domuandu
685 - 10,001 - Rhete
686 - 10,000 - Nite-Walker
687 - 10,000 - Cyrus-the-Omnipotent
688 - 10,000 - PiePie

Well, as you might guess from the bottom end of the list, 688 is how many people on NG had 10,000+ exp when I did the pentalist update, of course. #;-}>

I made no warranty as to having everyone from 9000 to 10,000 exp, and that's why I cut the list I posted in here at 688/the 10,000 mark exactly.

I'm sure there's probably 700+ people with 10k+ exp now, or if not now, then soon. 690, at least.

This is almost assuredly accurate.
That sounds like a possible maybe.

Definintely maybe, as teh Oasis might say.

If I'm missing anyone, it'd be only 1 or 2 people.
Am I one of those people? **blushes**

THAT'S UNPOSSIBLE. Dude, you've been on the pentalist spreadsheet since 2003. If I was missing you for a 10k+ exp top 688 list posting in 2008.... after that was the case since 2003... then I'd need my head examined. Or else my spreadsheet. #;-}>

061 - 20,170 - ReconRebel
064 - 19,690 - gfoxcook
Ack! Methinks I missed another deposit somewhere. I used to have a 490 point buffer on you Greg. Movement at this level is a rare thing these days. Thanks for the update! :)

I remember it being 500 exactly for a good long time, actually. But yes, the path to a narrowed gap begins with a single lost deposit, as at some point after that period you must have missed to narrow it to 490. And what, now it's 480, eh? Well, not that much narrowed, really. #;-}>

I wouldn't worry about me catching you, unless you were to retire, permanently or temporarily alike.

Now, if you wanted to someday miss 48 deposits so we'd be tied heading into the top 50 exp list, I would really dig that. #;-}>

A good point. Of course, over teh internets, it's difficult to know what method of teaching/imparting knowledge is best suited to the individual in question - especially if you don't know said individual particularly well. I know AnalPenguinFarming from the BBS (the Elite Guard Barracks in particular), but I don't know which method he would respond well to - hence the hesitation.

Heh, I don't know if you remember Bahamut and I telling you that I once had a 4-line explanation tl;dr'ed - so I could still see a hardcore tl;dr user not bothering to read it.

I'm slowly working my way towards it - I did a little bit of research, and it looks like the top 1,000 mark is currently situated in the the area of level 28-29, so I still have about 2,500-3,000 EXP to go for that. Still, I shall not be deterred. I'll get there one day :)

Hey NEVR I just wanted to let you know that your advice has been working with the time that I deposit my EXP points for the day. Yesterday I lost 3 ranks, whereas today I deposited at about 12:30 AM and gained about 9 ranks. I must be in some serious competition with a few users right now.

Yep, getting from 1,500 to 1,000 is really a hard thing to achieve. Many active users are around that spot, so you better do not miss any deposits! ;)

::sigh:: I'm tired of waiting until I get all the way to that point in time. I figure some will drop out and miss deposits, but that's potentially problematic for me because in these upcoming weeks I may miss some deposits myself. I normally don't care because I just hope to hit the top 1200 soon. I'm rounding in close on it.

Ugh yeah, especially going from 1100 to 1000. It was very tough, although not as tough as going from 500 to 400. However, the 900 - 1000 ranks was easy for me to pass through. All AnalPenguinFarming can do now is just deposit, be patient and eventually, he'll reach the top 1000 ranks.

Also, 777th reply here? :D

Well thanks for putting it into perspective for me there gfox. Good to see you are still doing your thing, by the way.

I've recently begun depositing my exp regularly so we'll see how far I get after 10,000. I've already passed 20-something people after becoming active again. Let's hope there's more to come.

Thanks a ton for the update gfox. I wish I saw it when you posted it because I spent a little while making my own list of people ahead of me.

I miss those sites that track this stuff automatically. I might get around to making one since I'm learning the proper languages to do so. That is, unless there's one somewhere that I don't know about.
