I'm gonna have to echo the gfox gratitude, as that exp list (now a month old lolol) was exactly what I needed to compile a small list of the people around me. Without it, I doubt I'd have had the patience and determination to hunt down those wily rascals.

So cheers for teh infos, dawg.

Yes most of the time but sometimes I have to wag the finger or put on threat down (FF)
HAHAHAH. LOVE THE COLBERT REFERENCES, YO!

I couldn't resist down some of the COLBERT REPORT references. I dont have any more right now.

I was watching a Colbert Report from last week on my DVR, and he did the Threat Down and it was all about the airline industry.... and then he did a special "Threat Down Wag of the Finger" at Richard "Richie Rich" Branson of Virgin/crazy appearance on the show fame...

damn I need to get a dvr my dvd recorder can only record 2 hours at a time. I recorded that episode as well, the wag of the finger and threat down combo excellent. Damn you Richard Branson get Air Colbert in the AIR.

IOW, the two greatnesses WERE COMBINED.

until someone/thing gets put on notice too.

I am going to do it then someone else will take over but who hmm. best o' luck.
You're going to update a top 500 exp list? I'll believe it when I see it. METHINKS THOU DOST JOKETH WITH US.

Well since ramagi updated monthly I reckon I will too, So you updated on March 19th I dost thinketh I will. Then someone will take over for me voluntarily.

I have passed many semi-depositers since I started depositing daily. Well those characters have given up and make it easier to pick off. Missing less is easy but the guy ahead of you may not miss more.
Pick 'em off. :::gunfire sounds::: One by one, baby.

picked one off just 5 days ago going the windbag next.

No we don't. You just check the profiles of the 20 or so people that were ahead of you on the list I posted a few weeks ago. Things don't change THAT rapidly in the top 100 exp list, man. This ain't the b/p list.

Well I could but I will forget because by the time I get to 107 it will be 2009 late.

So I get to pick the trimmings after you and your pack kills them.
Exactly. Me and Recon'll pass 'em, then a few months (er... years?) later you get to pass them, too.

I am here to clean the remains like the vulture that I am.

Craggy Island is a fictional island off the west coast of Ireland and is the primary setting for the comedy television series Father Ted.

I see. SO IT'S NO PLACE, then.

Yep. Now I wish some people ahead of me could take a "vacation" from depositing. :)

Don't we all.

Huh? You mean like "Warcraftling" or something? #;-}>
Yeah, that's it! :D Awesome name! Heh, I remember thinking of a Retrogade version of his name, which would be Retrogadling or Retrogrundling.

Heh. Yeah, that would be an awesome name. Which leads me to believe that someone on WOW has already used it.

As for a RG name for NGling... Retrogrundling would be more of a hybrid between his current name and a RG adaptation of it.... so Retrogadling is more of a straight-ahead RG-esque name. Some people might not realise it was him, though, so the "grund" might help with that.

Well, someone in your nuclear family has spent a penny, then. None in mine have. #;-}>
Why are you calling my family a nuclear family? o__O

Nuclear family is an (apparently) American English term for your immediate family. i.e. Mom, dad, bro, sis.... if you're a kid, I mean.

If you're a parent, then it's you, your spouse, your kids.

Either way, it's the smallest family core. It means "not counting cousins, aunts, uncles, etc."

Or, it can be used to mean the family living under one roof, your family in your own home/house/apt. Those two meanings often overlap for kids, after all.

Whatever. The Beast >>>> Satan.
No, it's the other way round!

Sure thing. I don't get what's so lolololol-worthy of the exp list I posted being a month old, though. A month old exp list is about as accurate as a week-old b/p list. Exp just moves slower than any other stat (aside from reviews, maybe) on NG does, so it should remain useful for a whole lot longer, thanks to the 10 per day cap on that stat.

Also, even at a month old, it's far more useful to people such as yourself and jonthomson and iscrulz and anyone else who likes to see who's around them for TEH PASSING in exp rank.... than all the 2007 exp lists that are available, and that's exactly why I posted it. #;-}>

So cheers for teh infos, dawg.

You're welcome. Glad it proved useful to ya.

At 4/14/08 05:38 AM, iscrulz wrote: I couldn't resist down some of the COLBERT REPORT references. I dont have any more right now.

There should be plenty more new ones forming from this week, since Colbert's in Philadelphia for the week, and is having tons of fun with a fake Benjamin Franklin, the mayor of Philly, etc. etc... and that was just last night!

Tonight, it's Michelle Obama. And later in the week (apparently), Hillary Clinton herself. GASP.

I hope he gets Bill and Barack as well, or else it'll be feeling like a non-sausage party. AND WHO WANTS THAT.

Oh wait, us guyz. #;-}>

damn I need to get a dvr my dvd recorder can only record 2 hours at a time. I recorded that episode as well, the wag of the finger and threat down combo excellent. Damn you Richard Branson get Air Colbert in the AIR.

I only record a DVD or a VHS anymore if I want to save something for a good long time. Even on the DVR, I keep some things for a month or two. But mostly I delete after my gf and/or myself watch it.

until someone/thing gets put on notice too.

Oh yes, the on notice.... and don't forget "Dead to me."

If all four could come together... MAGIC.

Well since ramagi updated monthly I reckon I will too, So you updated on March 19th I dost thinketh I will. Then someone will take over for me voluntarily.

Ah, so your whole plan is to take over the list updating, but never to actually do one before someone else decides to take on that role. SMART. #;-}>

picked one off just 5 days ago going the windbag next.

The windbag? That could mean so many people. WHO IZ IT?

Well I could but I will forget because by the time I get to 107 it will be 2009 late.

Unless you miss deposits, though, the only people who could possibly be ahead of you even in 2009... are people that I linked to a month ago. So your targets/competition/whatever are still all visible, waiting for you to check 'em out, should you want to. IT'S UP TO YOU.

Exactly. Me and Recon'll pass 'em, then a few months (er... years?) later you get to pass them, too.

Hmm.. this raises a thought. How many users here plan to continue depositing for another +5, +10, +20 years?

Personally, I plan to stop depositing permanently once I reach level 55 since it's the only level I wish to attain and as a excuse to escape the balls&chains of revisiting newgrounds, everyday. Not to say, I haven't enjoyed my stay here on NG ;-)

Besides, if you pass me in 80-90 years when somehow you're still alive (I don't doubt I'll be dead. Hell, I'll be dead by 2060 most likely).... I won't be around to feel ANYthing.

So again... DREAM on. You'll only pass me once I'm gone and thus won't give a crap that you've passed me. MWAHAHAHAH.

I plan to keep on depositing until I don't feel like depositing anymore. Which will probably be when I die or if I lose all my limbs or something.

Hey, BR... isn't level 55 that kick-ass golden sword? If so, I heartily endorse your idea. EXCEPT... that by the time you hit level 55, you might need to keep depositing (at least every other day or so) to maintain your level 55 sword icon, if scaling resumes with Pimp at level 60.

Which is, I'm pretty sure, what ramagi means by "maybe longer than you think" right there... since what else would cause delays for a level 42 to get to level 55, other than Pimp hitting level 60 before then, which he will? Yep.

I inspired myself to check, and spent the past hour getting all the exp amounts from two pages ago for the top 64... and then getting all the exp amounts for them today. While the same 64 people are in the top 64 (as I'm still at #64, even though NG thinks I'm at #63 for some reason... Shrapnel is listed as ranked #0 today due to some glitch or something...), a lot of jostling and rankchangery has gone in in the past month.

BEHOLD.... this is how I track exp for myself, the filenames of the shortcuts of those 64 profiles. Every time I want to check them, I open the profiles and record the new exp amount, change, and ranks of all 64 folks. FTW.... and if it wasn't clear, most recent rank is on the left of the ranks listed... then the next most recent to the right of that, etc. etc..... then the +change..... then the most recent exp amount is at the left of all the exp amounts.... then the next most recent exp amount to the right of that, etc. etc... then the username.

AGAIN, FTW:

I will tell you what it like when I get there :)

Well according to Denvish's NG level req , I got 3 years and.. 5 ..months.... left, aww jeez. Oh please do tell!

Hey, BR... isn't level 55 that kick-ass golden sword? If so, I heartily endorse your idea. EXCEPT... that by the time you hit level 55, you might need to keep depositing (at least every other day or so) to maintain your level 55 sword icon, if scaling resumes with Pimp at level 60.

"mother of all that we as human hold sacred!" I'm fear for that scenario!

Which is, I'm pretty sure, what ramagi means by "maybe longer than you think" right there... since what else would cause delays for a level 42 to get to level 55, other than Pimp hitting level 60 before then, which he will? Yep.

Ah yes, well guess I'll have to accept it or jump off a bridge. Here's to a undying commitment as a statswhore on Newgrounds! :-)

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! 9 people ahead of me at #64... got 0 exp since I updated the pentalist over a month ago.

Alas, only about 4-6 of them are reachable within the next couple of years. #;-}>

It's scary to imagine you sitting there with a pen, marking off names on your list "yesss... this would do nicely... yesss..." haha, but seriously, that sounds great gfox, seems you'll be reaching the Top50 in no time. Personally I fear for RagelV, as I'm prone to miss deposits when I'm on vacation and this guy hasn't let up. Guess we all have our share of risk in this discrete race.

Hmmm. It seems that you belive (much like fox) that somehow I was stating my superioty... that's far from the truth, I'm merely a humanitarian who wishes to minimize the harm that will inevitably (in what I estimated to be about 80-90 years from now) ocorrur to a fellow NG.

If you see that a person is going to fall down a flight of stairs, would you not try to grab a pillow beforehand to soften the blow? Or if a person is going to fall down a cliff into a lake of water, would you not try to throw an object into the water at the exact time so as to break the surficie tension and impede that person from dying a horribe death? Or if you see a person about to perform a uncontrolled nuclear fission on some plutonium, would you not use a carbon shield in a attempt to stop the reaction?

That is very much my current situation. But I must admit that I may have asked the wrong person here, as I have never had the possibility of being ahead of fox in exp, thus his experience is suficiently diferent from yours that the blow will surely not be the same. Still, thanks for the answer, I will use as proxy until I can obtain a more satisfactiory answer.

Why would being compared to Christopher Walken be painful? That would be a great compliment!

Except that the natural order is obviously with me as #1. So your last statement makes no sense. I'd recommend you study a little bit of logic before posting here on Newgrounds.

In your world, a 2003 signup is supposed to be #1 on NG?

Dude, there were 200,000 or so accounts on NG before 2003 began... all of them could have been higher than you in exp right now.

There's exactly 7940 accounts that could have been higher than me in exp right now. Instead, only 63 are.

The only people I feel REALLY have a rightful claim to the "natural order means me at #1" status... are 1999 signups. There were only 17 days in 1999 that you could have gotten a NG account. And folks such as Pimp and HT and Shrapnel (and indeed Tom and Wade Fulp, but they don't value exp #;-}>) are those rightful 1999ers.

LONG MAY THEY REIGN.

My goal is to get ahead of everyone with a 2001+ signup date, seeing as how my signup date is in 2000. But righting that wrong... will be hard.

You should focus on getting ahead of anyone who signed up in 2004 or later, since you signed up in 2003. See how that works?

So... if you signed up in mid 2004.... then that's somewhat over a year of depositing since I started doing it religiously in Jan '03.... say a year and a half. 7000 exp from 700 days overall, but take out the 90 or so days I'd deposited in 2000, 2001, and 2002... so... 600 days from early 2003 on... boom, you're into mid 2004 right there. Who knows? Maybe if we toss him a Red Sox hat, we can determine his reaction. A glee in his eyes, or a $2 sold-as-is on ebay.

Maybe it will be some sort of explosion. Something like those paranoid construction workers that had to tear down part of the new Yankee Stadium, just because of some discardxed rag that was buried in the foundations.

I wish that they had really buried David Ortiz there instead :P

LOL!

Glad you approved of my profiling, Agent Cook.

Fortunately, you've not been called things like a serial killer, or a wife beater, yet. There is still time however.
....

Or the #1 user in exp, for that matter.

Like you said, there is still time :P

This thread will remain quite weird for me for some time to come, as I keep looking at it and feeling small. Most of the threads I visit nowadays, I'm one of the highest level users in, but this one, I'm actuallt one of the lowest, amongst the regulars.
Whaaaaa? Hm. I never looked at it that way.

I'm not even in the top 250 yet, you guys have some massive totals and are safely ensconsed within the castle of Top 100ness.

Welcome to Brobdingnag, Mr. Gulliver.
Whoa. :::head explodes:::

A man like you getting confused by English Literature? Ever heard of Gulliver's Travels before?

Guys, guys... Vert's not being serious, he's just playing the role. Like DoD... but intentionally... and most importantly... WITH irony, unlike DoD. #;-}>

Ah, Irony. Such a good tool, if used correctly. If.

Run for your lives D:

He's changed his email address and hasn't validated it yet. This means tht he's technically non-existent in the rankings, as he isn't receiving the daily updates or anything like that.

It's a pain in the arse, but for the time being, just add one to your experience rank to come up with th correct figure.

He's not.

YES! FLIRT HIM TO DEATH!

That will remove the "threat."

Oh, you guys. Youse Red Sox haters, youse.

Glad you approved of my profiling, Agent Cook.

Only the melodramatic fool part. I dislike that you both speculated he's a Red Sox fan just because he shares other traits with DoD!

Or the #1 user in exp, for that matter.

I was referring to Vert never having been #1, never having been close, and most likely never ever being close, let alone #1.... so don't say something like there's still time! YOU'LL ONLY GIVE THE POOR FOOL HOPE! Hope is a valuable commodity, let's spend it on people who might actually get somewhere being inspired by it, damnit! #;-}>

I don't look at your level icon in this thread and think "huh, Coop sure is well below the rest of us that frequent this thread..." or anything, though.

Sure, there's a lot of people that drop by here like ramagi and Yoink and Recon and myself who are all level 43+ right now, but there's plenty of those types in every major thread on this forum. I guess somehow the people of low teens and 20s levels don't tend to come by here as much as in some other threads... and so you don't feel like anyone below you is here... but I see your level 37 axe and think "That's a decent level. That's the level of my alt alt right now."

You'll be level 40 before you know it, and hopefully that'll be high enough, with the ticking over from 3x to 4x.... to make you feel less self-conscious in such topics and company as this? #;-}>

Of course. I know the basic plot, the characters (him and the Lilliputians or whatnot), but I've never read the actual story, and the term "Brobdingnag" to me seems like a parodic setting of a LOTR fortress (so clearly I'm not as familiar with the settings).

So... yeah. Brobdingnag is just a whack-ass word, that's all I was reacting to. O_o

Ah, Irony. Such a good tool, if used correctly. If.

He may not be using it well, but my point is he's aware of the ridiculousness of his own playacting.... whereas with DoD... we're not so sure.

He's changed his email address and hasn't validated it yet. This means tht he's technically non-existent in the rankings, as he isn't receiving the daily updates or anything like that.

That happens to all of us when we change addresses.

Most of us click the validate link BEFORE the next day rolls around, though. And that has made all the difference.

Plus, while this has no doubt happened before many times, maybe with people remaining rank #0 for WEEKS and weeks... we wouldn't notice them if they weren't in the top freakin' 10 of exp users.

I think it flat-out stinks that the NG exp rankings have this stupid vulnerability to them. I don't see what difference the e-mail address your account is linked to, its validation, whether you're getting daily updates, or any e-mail-related issues..... what difference ALL OR ANY of that crap makes to the daily exp ranking algorithm.

Why does the account not being re-validated make that aspect of NG's daily cronjobs.... pass over that account, and its 26,000 freakin' exp points.... and just slap a "#0" in the rank spot.... while everything else on Shrapnel's userpage remains accurate, including b/p ranking. It's just... so stupid.

It's a pain in the arse, but for the time being, just add one to your experience rank to come up with th correct figure.

It's more than a pain in the arse. It's a false hope for around 2 million NG accounts.... the only unaffected accounts are the top 5 or whatever folks that are lucky enough to be ahead of Shrapnel right now in exp, and thus not having to deal with inaccurate exp ranking in their userpages. LAME.

Well, not according to the last list. gfoxcook gave us an update of the 688 users who had 10,000+ Experiences

That's still within your reach though, all you've got to do is be dedicated.
