I like the system. At first I was skeptical about the whole idea, but I can see how the way you guys have it set up it will work. I like how it is set up but have a few things I felt were worth mentioning:
-tons of flash artists with more than one nominated flash shouldn't be able to sweep the prizes
(I made an exception for the Time Trial, as it is a group of artists under the guise of the same flash)
-Perhaps an ability to split your vote, but only once. This would be nice because I just found myself torn between a couple of flash entries that I really liked, and ended up having to bump others off when they were really just tied with the ones I voted for.

That's it for now. I guess I was just being a stick in the mud about the whole idea, but as I said, I'm a sucker for cool new features.

Good luck to all the artists nominated.

I was going to post a similar message, but reasoned that if Tom or Wade cared, they could tell folk to stop themselves.

And if they don't care, then I suppose it's OK...

So I guess depositing paid off in the end...Most of the people who have top 2000 accounts aren't over-rated-artist fanboys, so people will actually have a chance.

Good luck to the people I voted for!

I think they chose a selection for a reason, they chose people who can be trusted and wont go mass-voting on one movie/game because someone else does

Response to Top Five February Voting! 2005-03-01 12:02:25

Wooo!

Nice feature, I thought it was going to be a hand picked panel of around 20 judges, not the 2,000 most deposited users.

Well, I've voted on mine.

Yeah, maybe 10 people showed their votes. But it's ten people from 2000 ! Does it really matters ?.. It's just interesting to see these votes. And they are really different. There are already mentioned more than 30 different flash submissions. I don't think that it can influence whose, who haven't yet voted. At least - not me - that's for sure. I have a strong opinion.

Geez, this isn't an easy choice....there are so many good entries.

here's my picks. i think they were wise considering my tastes and the fact that i chose for myself and was kind of angry about all the illwillpress and weebl picks.

i'm glad weebl broke his arm. i hope it stays broken. the only good thing about magical trevor 2 was that weebl was in nearly unbearable pain while making it.

No, we track for alt accounts in the voting process, so that would be a bad idea. :)

Tom,I just voted at that link.

I figured I'd post my alt accounts for you,so you know not to send them the link.

Can we vote on our own submissions? :P

Response to Top Five February Voting! 2005-03-01 12:30:50

I wonder if at the end of the year, they will bring all the past winning entries of the different months together for one big final vote for the top 5 of the year, and the cash prize is even BIGGER!

Also I'm dead chuffed that I'm finally selected in something semi-important on this site...ok I'm one of 2000...but still...nice to feel *sniff* special...
....
excuse me *runs out the room to get a tissue*

I asked this back on page 2 and neither Fulp replied, so I can only presume that they don't particularly care.

I suppose it's only one vote out of thousands and if everyone votes for their own, it'd balance out and it'd still leave you to pick 4 others, giving some meaning to your voting.

How do we know who got nominated?
And, if we were nominated, can we be judges or it only dependes on the experience points???

from the link tom posted in his first post:

"Currently, the panel consists of the top 2,000 ranking Newgrounds members who were active within the past month."

you probably weren't very active in the past month.

btw, don't attach a random pic to each one of your posts. they are not related to your posts or anything. make them your sig.

The information page lies! :o
Or at least it's misleading.

Look: ""Top 2,000" means they have more experience points than any other users (they would have to have deposited every day for at least a year to qualify)."

Every day for year to qualify?
First of all, that sort of implies every day consecutively.
But more importantly: One year = 365.25 days. A year's worth of deposits = 3650 gold.
And I have less than that, and so have some of the others here.

Is this really meaning that the account in question has to be more than one year old or something to be eligible?
Oh yes, I'm picky. And if I've somehow horribly misinterpreted that, feel free to chew me out. ^_^

Do audio artists get in on the money if a flash with their audio wins, or is it only the author of the flash that wins (I asume it is) since the audio is supplyed for flash authors to use freely?

sorry if this has been answered already, I skiffed through the topic and didn't see an answer.
