Why thank you!
But if you're referring to the ones I did above with the two characters, they're not mine. xD
It's from a web-comic called Lackadaisy by Tracy Butler.
I'll add the reason why I made this later or tomorrow once I get to finishing it. :3

1 year ago, maybe around November 7 or 6, I found the comic Lackadaisy.
Prior to that, I stopped drawing because I lacked the motivation and kinda gave up on drawing.
But because of this comic, it renewed my conviction to draw and really having fun doodling and creating these awesome characters for fun. xD

So thank you Tracy Butler for the comic. I don't know what would happen to me without finding your comic.

Here's something to celebrate this one year anniversary drawring thingy.
Rocky and Freckle and confetti!

One thing I would suggest with expressions is to play around with the eyelids and brows a bit more. It'll help with more dynamic and exaggerated expressions.

Disney has always done a damn good job, and I try referring to them often. You can vary it up to your personal taste of course.

I know, I know. xD
I'm actually not trying to do expressions here like I did last time.
This is just random doodles cuz I can't use the computer for 2 hours. :C
I'll get to practicing more expressions with my characters... eventually.
I have this..uhm... "essential" expressions thing I've been meaning to try.

Simplifying complex forms to the very basic geometrical shapes will make it easier to focus on the bigger picture before going into detail. For instance, the mouth has highlights at the edges, but the form it is sitting on looks flat. When you're studying or working from reference, blurring your vision can help you identify the overall shapes easier without being distracted by detail.

The lightest areas are the planes that point straight towards the light source and as the form turns, less and less light hits the planes. Highlights works differently - reflected light is found at the planes that hit the light source and the viewers perspective at the same angle. Here's something that illustrates that. Try identifying the keywords illustrated in your own drawing. Try making the different areas obvious.

Ugh, I know right...
I really lack knowledge in these..
That's why... I'm gonna continue this again next time.

Still looks flat...theres not enough value range...added darker darks and lighter lights. Is there a reason why the characters mouth has no fur?...the sides of the face are furry but when it gets to the mouth..the fur just stops.

I focusing with 2 values right now. I'll still add refelctive light, ridge lighting and more value at the end.
As for the fur, I'll save that for the end..once I get the shadow shades thing down.
I'll probably mess it up again, but I think it's better than most of my attempts.

Very good! I think there's a clear improvement in terms of understanding how form behaves in space, and how lightning describes those forms!

There's still a few ambiguous areas I will try to highlight through a portion of your illustration, namely his torso region. Clothing wrapping around the torso can be simplified as a curved plane, assuming light source is in front of him to his top right view, the planes facing his top-right should be brighter.

In the vest this isn't properly described as his right side of the best is changing from shadow to light to half-tone shadow to highlight. The vest is wrapping inside and under the arms and so as the shape turns and the planes starts facing away from the light source, less light is hitting the surface! Even in the case where light is directly to the right, the side would be shadowed by the arm.

Another important detail is the middle section where the two sides of the vest meets. This part too has some ambiguous lightning - With the light source shining in towards the overlapping, there won't be much shadow visible at the angle we're seeing the vest - However, the planes are facing ever so slightly different directions, so we can exaggerate this to emphasize that they're actually overlapping planes!

Also don't be afraid to use larger contrasts within elements! Even pure white is completely black when no light is shining on it - Bounced (or reflected) light is what makes planes not directly exposed to light not be pitch black. So for instance when a form is turning right next to a black vest there will be less bounced light, and as a result even white shirts can become quite dark.

Once you know form in perspective, and how light describes form, you can draw absolutely anything realistically! This is why it's very important to be aware of how your forms behave in three-dimentional space, and how light describes that form! I probably sound like a broken record, but I can't emphasize this enough!

I do however want to underline that I see a lot improvement! Your hard work HAS paid off, and I hope you notice that yourself and consider it a definite benefit of - and encouragement to do rigurous studies!

And, I repeat again, thank you so much for everything Gumby. xD
As for rigorous studies, I'm sadly leaving those out on my life. :c

I'm getting ready for an entrance test for a college in Feb.
If I pass, I'll finally be able to study computer science.
So far, I can't find a fine arts college.. It would be nice though.
