So apparently people who have been recieving their PS4's early have been finding out that it's defective. Fuck this.

This happens at every single console launch. It baffles me that people still preorder them. Give it 6 months. You'll get one that wasn't rushed out of the factory to meet the deadline and there might actually be some fucking games for the thing.

I didn't hear reports of this happening with the Wii U.

there's rumors going around that they might show off a new crash title at the event today.

also some rumors going around that parappa might return, if you look at the section where he shows his job, it mentions hes a VA at sony from 1996-2014

Just figured you guys should know. I personally plan on getting the Xbox One instead of the PS4, but I'm not gonna make a big deal about it.

I learned my lesson last gen with a 360 that bricked in 2 months and the nogamestation 3. Just don't buy launch consoles ever unless you just don't know what to do with your money and have a thing for gambling.

There's no PC market in Japan to speak of. You're unlikely to see much stuff from Platinum or Atlus or Kojima Productions make it to PC, so owning a console is a necessary evil if you're not to miss out on some of the best games, provided next gen follows a roughly similar path to this one.

I think the difference is Japan still has room for B games. You still get those weird, offbeat games that the 6th gen and before were full of from all over the world before production costs basically phased them out completely, leaving only the AAAs and the indies.

The same doesn't seem to be true on PC, though. Niche titles can make a perfectly decent living as PC exclusives, which would seem to go against the oft-cited piracy fears the console publishers always throw around. Stuff like the X series or Paradox's map games seems to thrive regardless.

What an absolutely underwhelming console launch. It didn't even feel like anything happened today. The sad thing is the Xbone launch will probably be even worse.

Exclusives like Naughty Dog, and console only exclusives like Ninja Gaiden, they may be underpowered, but it doesn't matter, so long as they have good games that you can't get on other consoles.
