If you mean that you'd be willing to help as a judge you can definitely join the team of backup judges who take up the work if a judge drops out. Since this team splits the workload between them, the more people there are on the team, the faster the actual work is done. If you wish to join, just PM Supersteph and ask him to add you to the list ;)

Latest progress report:

Everyone from the 5 backup judges sent me a message saying they can help do the backup reviewing, except one who probably didn't see my PM yet. Now, Kirbyfemur sent me a message offering to be a backup judge so we currently have 5 backup judges splitting FatKid's work. Three will do 5 reviews, two will do 6 reviews, and by the end of today (or worst case scenario, early tomorrow) we'll have another batch of the 27 reviews which FatKidWitAJetPak was unable to finish.

So far I have results from four judges. One of them is nearly finished from his results, but he currently has no access to them because he's in a situation that was out of his control in the first place. He said he may get access to them today, or maybe tomorrow. If the backup judges finish before he gets access to his computer to get the reviews, then we'll have to go on without him, but if he does send his reviews in time, then we'll have six batches of 27 reviews as originally planned.

I gotta say that, while there may be a minor delay, these contingency plans are organized and well executed.

While this may be true, this creates an inconsistent point of view and experienced insight for one set of results.

Plus, the different bias between FIVE different judges would make the score scale way off track for this set of results.

Said judge may or may not have done a particular pair of songs, but from one pair to the next pair, each judge could have potential decided on a different one of the two. So ROUND wise, the results across the board are skewed.

i don't understand how 5 people doing 1 judge's job is any more biased or skewed than just having the one guy's opinion.

i mean even two different guys review a pair opinions are opinions AND there's still like 4 other judges anyway. it's not a big deal.

If I make it past this round and round two, I already have a song lined up for round three :/

You know, I'm perfectly happy with 5 reviews, or even 4, because, and I'm sure most people would agree with me on this point, I'd rather see this contest run on time than worry about whether I have 6 reviews or not.

I can't say I disagree with this point. In my opinion its better to make this as professional as possible rather than waiting for a full set of reviews. I support this notion ;)

It's kinda late now seeing as the backup judges are all working on their reviews.

But it's a good point to bring up: in the case of a judge backing out in the last minute, would you guys favour more reviews with a delay, or less reviews with no delay?

I would love to see this contest on time. Also, the judges can always post their reviews on our individual songs on their own time after the results are announced.

I see no need for huge copy-pasta reviews in this thread when all that's needed are the announcements of who passes through to the next round and who is vs. who. Scores and reviews belong in the song pages in my humble opinion.

We're not making any changes to the system now that the contest has started - the copypasta will remain in the threads - it's not like it makes a big difference other than perhaps a smaller scroll bar.

But we'll favour more reviews over being on time or vice versa depending on the general opinion.

What about if the reviews were posted on an external text hosting website with password protection? That would reduce the work for me, since I'm posting the reviews here. :P

it would also make things more efficient since the people who actually wanted to read the reviews in detail could go to the links, while others might simply decide just to read the scores.

Well I don't know about password protection, but if you guys want to post without taking up a news post on your page or in the forums you can use my website. I can post "active-but-hidden" news posts on it which basically just means secret URL.

You could also just save it in a text file and throw it up on mediafire or something.

I only offer this because the only 2 free text hosting sites I've found require you to know how to write up an HTML head and body and thats a bit of a pain.

Don't worry I've already found a free hosting site which doesn't require any HTML knowledge and which provides password protection and the ability to host text passages for more than 2 years. Thanks for the offer though ;)

Results should be out today.

Four out of the five backup judges have finished their reviews already.

However I've just received word that the last judge is unable to give me his reviews unless we wait another 3 days because he doesn't have access to them at the moment. Still, we've got almost 5 whole sets of reviews to be submitted so I suppose that isn't too bad.
